Maki and the Cursed

We made better time putting the giant crystal back. The dwarf seemed to be telling us the truth about it being a focus due to how it reacted after being set back down. The puddle of water it sat in warmed up considerably. Just to a pleasant hot spring temperature, but still. It started glowing brighter as well as a about a 1ft hole in the back shooting out a column of light. I tried to go look at the hole, but the water was too deep by the time I got up to my stretched out knees. It was bright enough to probably blind me even with by goggles if I actually made it over there not to mention the bubbles of the likely boiling water. After about a minute the light faded and the water began to cool if there had been time that water would have made a nice soak. Just like home with some springs to relax in. Either way it looked like my group needed some downtime with this night running long and us waiting for Maki. I ended up starting work on Eval's endless quiver he wanted. Not ideal in our position at the time, but some slice of normalcy was nice. After a bit Eval came by with an offer of coffee and food from Kniana. I took a break and sampled some of the food. It was rather tasty considering the circumstances, but I was mainly after some then non-mucused coffee. After that I went back to work as everyone else rested.
About four hours later Eval came by saying that RRRoshin was approaching with the watchers of the abyss and that he looked drastically different. By the time we all gathered at the cave entrance Maki alone was standing there. There was some crashing and light in the background indicating that they were fighting something. Maki told us that the abyss watchers helped inform them of various things, such as the tainted have a kind of tremor sense. Whom I could only guess was RRRoshin came back with four watchers that I recognized and one larger one dragging a leg...creepy merging magics... RRRoshin was no longer well, RRRoshin. He went from a proud white Ursine with a sensible taste of adornment and armor to... an off-colored half dressed ursine with blackened tendrils coming from his now white eyes and hands. He said that they needed the necklaces and get to a portal as spawn were already coming through a tear. There was some confusion as he wanted to go to Svendio unlike the shadow king's realm we just left with the cracks and whatnot.
He handed us a drawing and told us that a world tree in the fey forest was being used to open a portal to the abyss. The watchers wanted to close or at least regulate that gateway. He sited something about the titan's heal had been split and they were using the blood for the portal. RRRoshin said something was off about the history books and that the Shadow King wasn't who we think he is. The elven king wasn't in Svendio but something else... He continued by saying that Isolomon was on the move to Svendio with only some of his silver knights. The rest of them were guarding...something... back in Islomon.
Someone eventually inquired into RRRoshin's appearance change. His response was something like hundreds of years of magic and he got tired of it. Kinda like Skrel... He then took a blade and cut his hand showing black blood only momentarily before the wound resealed itself. At that every one of us raised an eyebrow. He said that he had received the message, but altered it... Apparently the ritual is common enough that the Lady of Nine could have done it... It is some kind of connection between the material and shadow plains. It allows plant fey to get energy from the moon in addition to the sun, it lets them draw water outta the air, and it removes the need for food on top of this healing factor. It is some sort of symbiosis with another entity, but he said that he removed the parasite without cleansing his blood or curing the curse or something like that. He also said that he doesn't know the long term effects of which I would be worried about.
RRRoshin says he is loyal to Taltharian (elf king), curses Islomon, and the watchers are lazy but doing their job. Apparently the watchers split and some of them are obsessed with the Assure Spider Silk. After a bit of prying we eventualy figured out that RRRoshin wants the necklaces to close some portal to the abyss before the Hunter's Moon. The Lady of Nine wants them to seal the Shadow Palace by the same time. Kniana made mention of a bramble wolf seeding a Fresine crystal or something. RRRoshin said that he is wanted in Valerin for talking to the king forcefully or something. He then said he would be back at sundown and disappeared with the watchers. At that Maki wandered into the cave and I walked after him. He simply wanted to rest in my cart which makes sense after the whole thing that's been happening to both of us recently. I told him I would catch him up to speed later and about possibly adding this cave to the guild's resource network. I also warn him against messing with my various experimental things and projects. He looked excitedly at some, but I could tell ne need some time to recover. I ended up gathering up some of my tools and worked outside to let him sleep.
 
While I worked outside it seemed that the group collectively decided it was time to share our findings. They talked about the messenger bird illusion man they met in the Shadow palace. He told them of in impending demonic incursion and simply gave them the runestone. How they simply WALKED OUT down the road. I swear after all that anxiety I had in there... Eval being Eval tried to replace it himself and turned out to fry the seal and something about the stone either being wrong or damaged that caused the reaction some guardian that the dwarf stopped. Well, anyway the information they got from their...contact... in the spooky subdimention seemed to line up enough with RRRoshin's that I think that is what we're going to do. The downside is that apparently RRRoshin is wanted for killing the prince which is concerning at least from what the others said about the people who showed up after I left looking for the Ursine. I also finally had a nice chat with Skrel.
