Well, the masked guests in the various clans’ robes turned out to be some sort of half vine people. Tons of other guests around the area started dropping like flies, so I activated my belt with Ironskin and Shield. Wellp, I got caught without most of my damaging abilities again, but luckily I did make that Tink Coppertail Contact Scroll™ of Fireball. I mean it’s under cast, but it was supposed to only be a test. I managed to get that out of my bag just in case a field test was needed. As I looked up after that to see a bunch of birds dropping bags on the crowd. To my… horror after they hit they puffed out clouds of what looked like the Azure Spider Silk. One of the bags directly hit one of the silver knights directly in the face. One of them at least is against the vine people so I’d rather keep them all on this plane. I reacted to it by casting Gust of Wind to try and dissipate the dust as best I could. They ended up staying here and didn’t look to be going insane so I guess it worked even if I did knock him over. Right after that I heard a yelp from the Clan Ruby Matron, Lady Rene. I turned to see that Deep Caster from before. Well, I didn’t want one of the big wigs of Ruby getting hurt, so I cast Mad Monkeys to try to steal whatever staff I saw from last time. He still ended up disappearing with her though. Well, best way to insure I make it is to help the others deal with the plant people. I summoned more monkeys and directed both groups to go after the attackers. Skrel ended up next to me at one point saying he had the amulet. I told him to give it to me or that we needed to go NOW. I cast Floating Disk to hop on and see what is happening around the area as Skrel talked to Lady Rene’s husband. He ended up handing Skrel some sort of scroll. Skrel then turned to me and snapped “Don’t tell me what to do” after my insisting to get outta here with what ENTIRELY WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR. Especially after seeing him pouring blood. After some more bit he wanted to check on our group for more rode safety. I get that, but as of this moment my cart is the safest place I can think of. Whatever, I ended up, defending, guarding him as we checked on Leo near the food tent. He ended up healing Leo who had some of the vines implanted in him while out cold. Skrell was pulling the vines outta Leo’s body which seemed in there better that if he was just impaled… At the time a dense fog rolled in as we had seen significant casualties on the field getting covered. [with fog] While the others were reconvening at the gazebo, I slipped around the fog to get some samples of that Silk managed to even get about a pound of that stuff! I made it back to see Skrel cast even more healing spells. By my count he shouldn’t have that many even if he was a cleric or using items… Imma have to talk to him about that later. Maybe he knows some neat tricks to get more spells? After this fight I might make a similar mask to try to blend in next time…
Previously, On the road to Brentwood after the Fey Party.
Kniana was considering selling the items the elf captive left as payment and had me inspect them some more. I tell her a bit about selling at a market verses selling to a market and cost factors associated with each. Hate trying to sell pre-made things, you always just have to wait until someone is looking for perfectly that item. She decided to have me give an estimate for what I’d pay. I told her to keep the ring and cloak as they would benefit her more than my plans of emergency materials. I quoted her about 2235 gold of value. At least that is what I could get out of it max for material. I also offered her to credit it toward Maki. Well, more like I’d pay Maki instead of her on her behalf for her items but yeah…
She asked about also the potions from the plant. I’d rather not have to pay for something already in my possession so I reminded her of the next of kin thing. Truthfully I see these as our group’s rather than mine. If we do need to use them and find the next of kin I can simply craft more for them…at least if I use them. Eval was supposed to be working on the next of kin thing… Anyway, I knew a slight remark as using a dead man’s survival supplies might get her after seeing the whole ceremony she put on for the burial. Either way I’m not buying them, but she did like that I remembered it.
I think I misunderstood one of her questions as I think she assumed I also track Maki’s books. I have no idea what the agreement is for them, but I can help collect is what I told her. I also gave her a bit of advice to financing with Maki. He’ll try to refinance to get the remaining over agreed time, but I told her to apply it as an account advance to pause payments until it catches up. She thanked me for the clarification.
She also thought that I was more desperate than I am for material. While I am short with only 15gp of material left, I at LEAST have enough gold to restock to what I’ve been at in Brentwood. So for me it is more of if I want to make something else I can rather than I need it to continue. I told her that if she would like She could cancel or change our agreement as it is only business. She was looking for an extra 565gp to settle out with Maki, but I wasn’t willing to spend about 25% more than I’d get. Mostly because of my finances are significantly more touchy than one of the established shops. I told her that she’s have to offer something else in another transaction and that I can usually do better deals on finished product. She did offer word of mouth advertisement which unnecessary to me as I don’t have a shop and the Brotherhood has a good reputation for who we care about already. She ended up settling with my original quote trusting me to not inflate it against the uninformed. I haven’t caved to gratuitous profit yet, at least not when I’m using them for protection… She said something about me not exploiting connections she had? I’m not one for the socio-political stuff but it sounds like she is one to keep in good graces. She did say her kitchen was open, I don’t need to eat, but a little nibble might be nice sometime.
