I woke up sore all around and face down in the dirt. I crashed hard after an all night bender. So hard that Bessy had pinned me with her horn to protect me. I had to wake her up and get her to move off. I took my time that morning to clean myself off and oil up as usual before going to town to try some more with last stop gifts. The morning was fairly uneventful, but around noon a dark skinned orkish individual came by. He had a deep blue robe that I didn't recognize as from any of the major clans. Their was also a cut on his arm that still seemed fresh. {Fight with Leo pickpocketing} He made a comment on how the area he was from didn't have any Coppertails and that he had an order. He ordered two riffle scrolls of Mage Armor at lowest cost. {Probably used one in the duel} I tried to bait him for some longer ones but he knew what he wanted. I would have offered him one of the new Tink Coppertail Contact Scrollâ„¢ but I still have to try a few more out just to be sure they will work properly. I figured the price to be about 26gp for both and informed him of the policies. His response was to simply pay the total upfront which I can respect. Curiously, he asked if I was Maki of which I responded telling him that Maki was a coworker. He then held up a pendant saying that Vesuki was looking to send it to Maki. He claimed to be good friends with the northern kobolds, saying they made many of his things like a nice enough silver jeweled ring he showed me. His instructions from Vesuki were to send it to Maki as he would know what to do with it. I told him that I could take care of it and he set it down for me to collect. After I finished the work in a mere 4 hours for the two scrolls I took a closer look at the amulet. It was a Broach of Shielding, a necklace that blocks Magic Missiles. It hasn't been used yet so it still had about 101 points it could still block. It also had Vesuki's mark on it so it seems legitimate. Makes me wonder why Vesuki didn't send it herself directly through their bank. Also makes me wonder why the orc didn't send it himself upon entering town.
The orcish fellow did come back and claim his scrolls and the rest of the day mostly featured window shoppers. Though I doubt they even could do that judging by the look on some of their faces at the prices. I ended up calling it and going back to were my group has camped out. The only one there was Skrel reading in his cart. He is always reading, I wonder what occasionally.
Eventually Kniana and the others come back and they even dragged that 'of the South character along. Kniana and Eval filled me in on him saying that he's from the Hollow Coast, and apparently has Amnesia. Kniana also made mention of the Circle of Six, an ancient circle of druids that maintain peace in the fey wilds. They deal with the forests mostly but it is said that they also have dealing with some of the more ancient Dragons. Apparently one of them might be showing up to the wedding. As well as Zaltharian, a cloud dragon of legends known of from rumor at best as one of the fallen. Sir Latharius, the leader of Clan Ruby himself talked to her about safeguarding the amulet in a vault of Naan. She continued with saying that the security is going through the roof as I would expect with names like these!
I guess the necklace that we were tasked with from RRRoshin is one of three. They have been used in some ritual ceremony that hasn't been done in awhile due to clan conflicts. Eval said that the necklace is magical which to me says that it is either very powerful or very obvious for even him to even be able to tell. He described it as having about six [quarter sized] small crystals as decoration. I then had to tell him about the number of crystals is considerably less important than the quality. Much like other gems you need to have someone who knows what they are looking for to give you an appropriate appraisal. I mean without taking it to someone to appraiser, a skilled craftsman can pass off a regular gem as a frestine crystal if you aren't using it [for magic]. I did tell him that I would have to examine it under a microscope to get an accurate read. I had to explain what a microscope was to Lilly and Emery which is understandable due to their rarity. Surprisingly enough Skrel made mention that they were more common were he is from. I'll have to talk to him more on the subject sometime.
After listening to them talk some more, it started to occur that this Emery is none to bright. I don't mean a language thing like I have from time to time, but missing more what I thought were common concepts. I could understand his confusion if I was the one trying to talk about my subjects and crafts, but the plain conversation of the others? Eh, so long as I'm not involved it doesn't particularly matter to me. Kniana did offer her oracle services to him and some of the others. I don't care for such nonsense. I already know of my own past and my future is mine to make. If I am given a fate is there no way to avoid it? If no, then anything I do will not matter if it is already pre-determined. If yes, then I could be following a false prediction with false outcomes. To seek predictions is to seek outcomes, to me it brings the question of fate. I view the whole concept as a gamble with the fates and I don't gamble.
