The fight was over and there was still more to be done before the sun came over the desert. I looked at the Watcher cultists a bit more. They were natural fighters. Nothing in terms of practical gear and rather bare otherwise. Maki took an interest in some sort of poison they had on their claws and other elements of their body. He was more the alchemic study than I. I wouldn't let that stop me from what I was looking for here. My logic is that If this is were the blood for the Azure Spider Silk was coming from that it would likely need to be made freshly. I went snooping around the house for the ingredients.
The main floor was fairly bland, seemed to be simply there to have some sort of shelter from the desert. It was a bit of a mess from the scuffle we had just gotten through. There was a chest in the corner of the main room that Lily asked me about. Figures that SHE would find something like this "open"... It had runes around the edging of the lid, but I didn't sense any magic at first. Strangely enough the runes held concealing magics and the chest itself was lead-lined after looking at it more closely. Inside were robes made of Lfaen Spider silk, but that wasn't even the most strange part. The robes them selves were Clan Sapphire diplomatic garments, at least according to Eval. How they got here all the way from Grenwell baffles me. I was more interested in getting Skrel to help take the chest with us for repurposing since it will do no good sitting out here in the sandy wastes. Lily also ended up finding a false bottom in it too. It had another lock with an anti-picking serration. Even Maki was surprised that the chest was here when he came in to snap some bones and recover some reagents off the corpses. Normally the style was from Scarbrand and Vesuki up north, and the serration on the lock was living-metal so that it would repair itself should filing be attempted as Lily suggested. Lily kept working at it while I went to explore more of the house.
I was fairly confident that the Watchers had all fought or fled at this point and went into the basement to look around. Most of the group followed me and also looked around while I headed straight for the alchemic setup they had against one of the far walls. There was a slate that had weight measurements for Titan's blood to refined crystal, and... lotus flower? While I was looking over the other ingredients, Lily got into the one I was defiantly after. She got open a lock bot the puffed with a shiny dust into the air in front of her. She ended up inhaling some refined, powered Frestine Crystal and passed out. The others said that she was starting to freeze, Skrel and Kniana quickly filled a tub with water and warmed it up to soak her. She ended up being okay, but seemed...larger and.... shinier... I figured with that the others could handle her, so I snatched the box for my own research. It's much easier to use separated stuff than to try to re-separate the finished product. I also took some raw Titan's Blood from the setup. THe stuff seemed to still be moving much like the sludgy mixture The Traveler traded to me. The setup looked to be trying to separate and concentrate some particular aspect of the blood. I managed to secure three vials worth of the raw blood with Maki and talked to him about it and my findings.
While we were talking, Lily...again..., screamed from a separated off room. By the time I made it over there, a body-mawed stomach acid leaking, four legged, what was once a cultist, THING had grabbed Lilly and pulled her under a bed that Eval was lifting off of them... Kniana had splattered what was once a head all over the walls and it decided to go after her. It threw Lily at the back wall and pounced on Kniana. I tried to cast Reduce Person on it, but it resisted the body magics. Instead it grew tentacles while Eval grabbed it. He just wound up and punched right through the back of the creature. Kinana was thoroughly disgusted from the...drippings... and cast create water on herself which interestingly enough started to dissolve the creature's corpse in the corner. She then declared that we'd be burning the place down.
Not one to let supplies go to waste, I started reclaiming everything. I managed to get about 150gp of raw material from the alchemy setup. On the upper level were a few crates. One had bags of chalk likely used for ritual drawing, one had about 16 Alchemists' Fire, and the last had a strange orb about the size of a medium fist. It looked kind of like the acid things they were throwing at us earlier. On the main floor I convinced Skrel to help me move the concealing chest into Maki's tent for storage. Eval had found a key to it from the thing that they killed in the basement so we cracked it open before storing it in Maki's tent. I learned that Lily had decided to try to open it still and that her blood activated a designate or fire spell of some sort that destroyed the contents. What was left in the ash was some strange blackened and red-trimmed coin. I could sense a great magical presence to it of a Chaotic Evil nature. The text on the coin was abyssal, not that I could read it, and souls are trapped to, er in the coin. Eval hated the idea of entrapment, but it just seemed like a Frestine Crystal type of thing to me.
While discussing our next move, RRRoshin warned us not to use much magic on our was to Svendio as the mindless are drawn to it. Figures... Either way we decided to hang out here for the day before heading out. Maki asked if we'd like a more luxury place to stay than the cultists' shack. I set up his tent and he opened an alternate room I had forgotten about and pulled about a two foot box. I can't believe I forgot about the thing. I even attended the lecture he gave at one of the Snaggletooth guild meetings. A stone pillar ascended outta the box it turned into a three story fortress tower to create a Popup Fortress of sorts. Inside was very elegant and nice, even if sized for us shorter folk more. He even introduced Crisco and Moe, an ice elemental and a wind elemental respectively. He called them his central cooling, patent pending. The others retired to relax for a bit as I hit the crafting at about 3:40am.
