when i was just a filly i had trouble moderating my emotional reactions and as an early bloomer for magical strength i could accidentally become a bit dangerous sometimes
my elderly and patient physic "amber spark" taught me to meditate by molding putty into the 5 equal-vertex solids starting with the 4-vertex and carefully working up to the 20-vertex
naturally the 6-vertex was my favorite
for a long time i used this putty-molding ritual to regain quiet focus
when i started learning how to cast spells i modified that ritual to train my capacity to keep several simple spells working in concert
i shape putty into a 4-vertex solid then in its center i grow a 4-vertex space until it pushes the putty into smaller duplicates
then i repeat with each of those
when i arrived in sharn i was working toward recursion 2 to get 16 solids total
now i consistently manage 4 recursions – 256 solids arranged like triangular lace
i've already double-checked our supplies and made as many spell-tokens as we need and worked out exactly what i want to say to emmer sykes so until we get to the blackcaps there's little to do here in the squallchaser except listen to co-pilot "d'lyrandar hjelle" chat about the adventures she and her special one "ilien" have been on
they're great stories and she's fun to listen to but i've mostly been working toward recursion 5
right now if i stop pulling apart and remolding putty i start thinking how we'll get through the base and what we'll find and what sykes might try to do to escape and what bell will do to him when they meet
there's not much use to revisiting those thoughts again and again
there's also not much use for somewhere between 256 and 1024 little pointy lumps of putty but at least this doesn't get my heart beating faster than medya's
amber spark would be glad to hear that
