technically the days here are the same actual length of time as back home but today was still the longest day i've ever experienced
i left off right when ploughshare walked into bell's forge so let's pick it up there
they've been trying to make ends meet as a "sell-shield" but that's a tough business because everyone here is so used to excessive violence they can't see the point in hiring a bodyguard who won't aggress
anyhow i learned a lot more from bell about how the forged are put together both physically and magically but i learned even more about how much i have to learn so this journey sure isn't going to be a weekender
ploughshare had a couple tips on where to start my big research so it looks like tomorrow i'm going to check out "morgrave university" and see if they'll work with me
i could also ask the healers-for-hire at "house jorasco" but i'll try this first
what else today
oh yeah i got to help subdue a rampaging forged "juggernaut" over three times my height who turned out to be a panicked war veteran named "siege 17"
(most forged were forged for war which is why they're usually called "warforged" which stinks so i just call them "forged" and now the word "forge" is starting to sound weird)
(also who gives a living feeling being a name that's just a job title and a serial number?)
when i say i helped subdue it's more like i perfectly cast my "force bands" spell and they just slipped right out which is not supposed to happen so that's just one more failure of preparation i get to worry about
fortunately medya was able to relax siege with a song and managed to get them calmed down so we could get them outside the city walls to redirect their uncontrollable aggressions toward something safer like rocks and trees
if you're asking yourself why a traumatized ex-soldier is being ignored by the people they fought for until they become sick and dangerous well you're in good company because i don't get it either
if you're asking yourself why it took a random group of concerned citizens and tourists to handle that situation it's apparently because the guards here range between "absent" and "useless" unless you're in the nice part of town
they call the the guards here "the sharn watch" and apparently they're not reliably trustworthy and in fact are to be actively avoided
to quote bell directly "when someone hands you papers to go to the watch those papers are meant to be lost"
yeah sure i'll sleep so much better knowing that
there is so much that is wrong with this place and now i see why ploughshare's mission is so important and so difficult
nobody here takes care of the herd because they're too busy looking out for themselves and being violent
they're worse than gryphons
heck
they're worse than dragons
there's more i could ramble about but i'm totally exhausted and i still have to take some notes and sketches before bed
