Hedgecrook Manor

Located approximately half a days journey east/northeast of Rooktown, Hedgecrook Manor is the familial home of Battis Hedgecrook.  For many years, it was occupied by the orphanmaster Botho Crawdington, who kept knowledge of its existence from Battis while he was a ward of Crawdington's Orphanage.  When Battis returned to the Donneshire Hills after time away as an adventurer, he claimed the deed to the manor and has since moved in.  With him came many of the orphans from Crawdington's Orphanage, who are now recognized as the Orphans of Hedgecrook Manor.

Alterations

Hedgecrook Manor was in a dilapidated condition for a number of years before Battis reclaimed it.  Since then much of its reconstruction was given over to Ruhalen and the Orphans of Hedgecrook Manor.  Rooms have been restored and a number of improvements were made by placing special orders with Royston O'Shade at the Bosky Mill.

Architecture

Presumably constructed for a halfling family, Hedgecrook Manor is nevertheless built able to accommodate larger folk.  Unlike many above ground buildings found in the Donneshire Hills, however, it does not show signs of elvish influence in its architecture.  This strange quality makes it look unusual to 'shire folk who steered clear of it for many years.
Hedgecrook Manor has two stories, a cellar, and a balcony overlooking the front grounds.  In the back are a more recently made free standing building for storage, and a small garden and fountian.

History

Hedgecrook Manor has a very mysterious past but in recent years has been the site of a number of troubling events. Ghosts and devils have roamed its halls, and numerous murders (including child murders) have occurred beneath its roof.
