Orphans of Hedgecrook Manor

The Orphans of Hedgecrook Manor are a group of twelve halfling and half elven children that were freed from Crawdington's Orphange in Rooktown by Battis Hedgecrook. At the time of their emancipation they numbered over twenty, but since taking up residence at Hedgecrook Manor their numbers have dwindled due to a variety of misfortunes and evils set upon them. A few of these strange reasons include: crushed in construction accidents, chopped in half with a bastard sword, having their soul drained by a devil, lost in the 9 Hells, and murdered by ghouls (subsequently becoming a ghoul).
The events in the orphans' collective history would be enough to break most adult minds and although many of the children present signs of mental and physical trauma, they have become a remarkably strong and tightly knit bunch. The recent return of Master Battis to Hedgrecrook Manor has even brought some comforts to their lives and lessened their misery considerably. In addition to the loosening restrictions and the absence of direct threats to their persons, the orphans are also instructed regularly in the teachings of Empterion by the Cleric Talia Nebacchus.
Although young, the orphans are quite industrious and no strangers to hard work. All of them worked as cobblers in Crawdington's Orphanage and many of them were tasked with helping Ruhalen while he remained at Hedgecrook Manor and began renovations. The variety of skills in their group, as well as their uncanny endurance, are truly remarkable.
The orphans are led by the two eldest; Half Elven sisters, Trina of Hedgecrook and Betina of Hedgecrook. Other orphans of note include Bobby the Ghoul, Little Agua Dulce, and Elmer with a little hunch.
