Rooktown

Located near the southern edge of the Donneshire Hills, Rooktown is less hilly and not nearly landscaped as its sister city, Northfarthing but still has unique offerings of its own. Because of its closer proximity to the edge of the Great Forest, Rooktown often has more direct contact with travelers from the outside world. This means that the latest goods, fashions, and news often come through Rooktown first and this gives its inhabitants a feeling of pride over the “Farthingales” to the north.   Rooktown has a population of around 7,000 inhabitants and is much more racially diverse than Northfarthing. Gnomes and half-elves make up nearly a third of the population and the attitude of “Rooktown Men” (as the general Halfling population here is called) is generally more accepting of outsiders than those in Northfarthing. A prime example of this is Hamish Aureas, a half elf deputy who keeps the peace in Rooktown.   Particularly of note to the many travelers is Old Toby Tobacconist & Farm, located at the north edge of town. Famous in the free cities as the finest pipe weed in the lands, Old Toby has numerous fields growing an incredible variety of Halfling pipe weed.   Other locations of note in Rooktown include: The Black Horseshoe Smithy & Forge, Lola Lollipop's Apothecarium & Candy Shoppe, The Raven's Nest Tavern, the Sleeping Babe Inn, Shorty John's Fishmongery, The Deputy's Hole, Heelwright Bros. (Carpenters, Cooper, and Wheelwright), Barry Toehook's Barbershop, and The Rooktown Pantheonic Temple.   Like Northfarthing, Rooktown also has a dog track (Hamrick Park, kennels for greyhound racing and a stable.
