Mars
The red planet, the second home of humanity. After a private mission to mars, it was settled by enthusiastic settlers that began turning it into an economic powerhouse, and a good place to live. While terraforming has only just started, they are sure that they can make a planet more livable than earth.
Geography
Only marginally terraformed, most people live under domes or under ground. Streaks of green cover the landscape where genetically engineered plants have started to take hold, and the ice caps have begun to shrink from the ever-increasing temperature. A large series of domes can be seen over Utopia, the first and largest city on mars, with a space elevator extending all the way to station Aleph above it.

Martian Cactus:
A hardy small cactus looking plant, with broad flat leaves and a wrinkly, leathery surface. Designed to survive in martian native conditions
Lichen:
Lightly modified earth lichen grows on millions of rocks on the surface
Skitters:
Modified centipedes, designed to survive mars

Massive untapped reserves of metals, low gravity, massive industrial base as well as highly educated citizens.
