Formation of the PDRM

Founding

After a brief struggle for independence and the first interplanetary war, the PDRM constitution is signed and accepted by the UN, forming the PDRM. It begins as just the colonists of the UN run colony of Utopia, but eventually spreads to cover all of Mars, her two moons and many other areas.

This time marks the official ratification and acceptance of the Constitution of the People's Democratic Republic of Mars by the United Nations of Earth. Initially formed as a direct democracy, due to the small number and unusually intelligence of the colonists present, it eventually morphed into the quasi-representative democracy that can be seen today.
It initially consisted of the 1,617 adult colonists of the UN Martian colony of Utopia, who democratically decided (1,241 votes yes, 274 no, and 102 abstentions) to become independant from earth. After a brief, near bloodless "war" they eventually settled, becoming the PDRM, which slowly expanded over the centuries to include the rest of Mars, Deimos, Phobos, cis-martian space, and a number of asteroid habitats.
