Wyrmwood
The Wyrmwood is a vast and perilous forest located west of the Grimcrags and north of the Bay of Chassim. This ancient woodland is known for its towering trees, their thick canopies casting the forest floor into near-constant shadow. The trees are primarily Fir, Oak, and Pine, with Silverhorn dotting the deeper parts of the forest. Twisting vines like the deadly Arralvin are a constant hazard along the dense underbrush. The Wyrmwood is an untamed wilderness, and its reputation as one of the most dangerous places in Remon is well-deserved.
The forest is home to a variety of monstrous predators, including the Lirketh, a massive serpent known for its ambush tactics. The Lirketh coils through the undergrowth, blending into the dark greens and browns of the forest, and is known for using both constriction and venom to overpower its prey. Even larger threats lurk beneath the ground, where Wyrms, ancient burrowing beasts, occasionally surface to wreak havoc on the forest and anything in their path.
The Linsarr, a six-legged predator, prowls the outer regions of the forest, using the forest’s rugged cliffs and cave systems to ambush prey from above. While many creatures in the Wyrmwood rely on stealth, the Linsarr is an aggressive hunter, feared for its speed and lethal precision.
Deep within the shadowed heart of the Wyrmwood, the ancient creature known as Searak, the Great Drake, slumbers. This colossal being is a legend whispered in fear among the people of Remon. Rarely seen but always feared, Searak only awakens when disturbed or in need of sustenance. When he does, his fiery breath and devastating strength can reduce entire groves to smouldering ash, leaving a path of destruction in his wake. The Norrans of the surrounding lands have long revered Searak as a force of nature, believing that he guards something precious buried deep beneath the forest, though none dare to approach his lair to confirm these tales.
Beyond its deadly fauna, the Wyrmwood's dense growth of Silvermoss, Fir, and Pine trees, along with the creeping Ghostvine, create a suffocating atmosphere. Travellers must remain vigilant, not only for predators but for the forest itself, which seems to guard its secrets with lethal intent.
