Cape of Larramir
The Cape of Larramir is a rugged and wild peninsula at the southernmost point of Remon, jutting into the Gamanaean Ocean. Known for its steep cliffs along the southeastern coast, the cape is constantly battered by fierce ocean winds, making it a hazardous place for sailors and fishermen. The western side of the cape, however, features more sheltered, shingle beaches and lower hills. Between these coasts lies the Forest of Thalin, a dense and mysterious woodland filled with towering Fir and Pine trees, as well as Sirathin, known for its medicinal bark.
One of the cape’s most formidable creatures is the Basorra, a giant solitary ape that inhabits the deeper reaches of the Forest of Thalin. These massive, highly territorial creatures are rarely encountered, but their strength and intelligence make them a feared presence. The forest is also home to a variety of birds, including the Alyrros, a majestic bird of prey that soars over the cliffs and forests, and smaller species like the Goldbeak, which dart through the trees.
The Cape of Larramir is also notable for its marine life. In the waters off the southeastern coast, large saltwater predators like the Krethgorr and Lorghee lurk, making the waters dangerous for ships that stray too close to the rocky shores. Smaller fish, such as the Melmakkir, are abundant in the calmer waters to the west and are a vital part of the local economy. Pods of whales migrate past the cape each year.
The cape’s windswept cliffs and treacherous seas have long given rise to legends of shipwrecks and haunting spirits, and the remote town of Farport clings to the eastern shore, serving as a final outpost before the wilderness takes over. The people of Farport are hardy and self-reliant, accustomed to the challenges posed by both the harsh environment and the creatures that roam the Forest of Thalin.
