Bay of Chassim
The Bay of Chassim lies in the southwestern reaches of Remon, nestled between the southern Stonelands to the north and northwest and the foreboding Wyrmwood to the east. This sheltered bay is known for its desolate and rugged shores, where the remnants of the once-thriving town of Chassim stand as a ghostly reminder of a bygone era. The town, long abandoned, was devastated by unknown forces, its ruins now slowly reclaimed by nature.
The northern and northwestern shores of the bay are influenced by the Stonelands, where rocky outcrops and steep cliffs dominate the landscape. These rocky steppes are covered with hardy shrubs and scrubby grasses that cling to life in the harsh environment. The waters along this stretch are treacherous, with sharp, submerged rocks that make navigation perilous for ships unfamiliar with the bay’s layout. The Yrin, massive goat-like creatures native to the Stonelands, can occasionally be spotted along the cliffs, their impressive horns silhouetted against the horizon.
To the east, the Wyrmwood looms over the bay’s eastern shore. This ancient and dangerous forest is filled with dark, twisted trees that stretch out toward the water, their gnarled roots extending into the shallow coastal marshes. The bay’s eastern coast is quieter, with dark sand and patches of swampy ground where the Arralvin vine traps small creatures in its sticky tendrils. This part of the bay is shrouded in an eerie mist, and locals tell tales of strange creatures that lurk beneath the forest canopy, only emerging to hunt along the shore at night.
The bay’s waters are relatively calm, but they conceal deep, dark depths where dangerous creatures such as Krethgorr and Lorghee eels make their homes. Fishermen who still venture into the bay in search of its riches do so with caution, ever mindful of the monsters that have claimed many lives. The bay's reputation for danger is compounded by rumors of sunken wrecks and lost treasures beneath its surface, drawing adventurous souls despite the peril.
The Bay of Chassim remains a place of mystery and danger, its quiet shores hiding both natural and supernatural threats. Despite its beauty, it is a region best approached with caution, where the untamed wilds of the Stonelands and Wyrmwood converge to create a haunting, rugged landscape.
