Plateau de Leon

Landmass between the Meneziou Are and the Ar Mor Breizh, where the Biskonti Leon is largely found.

Geography

Leon is located on the Northwestern tip of the Armorican Peninsula on the Plateau de Leon, stretching from the Island of Eusa and the Corsen Peninsula to the Bay of Montroulez in the East. The north is dominated by flat and a temperate climate, while the elevation climbs to the South as the foothills of the Meneziou Are rise to rocky highlands.   The majority of the coast is dominated by granite cliffs rising directly from the rough waters surrounding the Peninsula. These cliffs are cut by two large river valleys marking the end of the plateau, the Elorn, which empties into the Rade de Brest and the Montroulez, which empties into the Bay of the same name. Despite the dramatic cliffs and rocky moors of the border region, the interior of the plateau is largely flat with gentle hills, dominated by agricultural Bocage. Numerous islands are found off of the coast, harboring seafaring communities of fishermen on their remote, rocky shores.

Natural Resources

The temperate climate and favorable terrain allows for robust agricultural production, the sandy soil supplemented by a local industry of seaweed harvesting, that makes for exceptional fertilizer. The region is known for its production of artichokes, onions, cauliflower, and tomatoes. Cattle are kept by the noble houses of the region.   The moors in the foothills of the Meneziou are renowned for the husbandry of the finest horses West of the Liger River, and Leoned horses are kept in the stables of the nobility across all of Northern Kornôgel.   The Ar Mor supports a thriving fishing and aquacultural industry, specializing in shellfish, especially lobster, and oysters, which are raised in the river abers across the region. The Elorn river, flowing into the Rade de Brest, is a well-known salmon run. Seaweed harvesting is a major industry in the seaside villages dotting the coastline, and this is used both in local agriculture and exported throughout Kornôgel.   Quarrying and ore mining are also common in the region, typically carried out by Kriores and Fomorians. This is done in open pit granite quarries or along the coastal rivers that cross the region, such as the Aber Ildud, a large source of tin for the region.
