Kouenon River

The river that serves as the formal border between the Duchy of Letha and the Duchy of La Manche. It passes through Fougères.

Geography

The Kouenon has its source in the hills of the County of Cenomannie to the East-South-East of Kastell Fougères, traveling Westwards for several kilometers before abruptly turning North, flowing through the Marais de Dol into the Pleg-Mor Menez-Mikael.   The River is considered, with some variance, to be the border between the Duchy of Letha and Duchy of La Manche, as well as the borders between the Lethan March of Coglais and Viscounty of Dol and the Manchais County of Avranches.   At the Pleg-Mor Menez-Mikael, the river alternates between two riverbeds, to the North and South of Menez-Mikael respectively.

Localized Phenomena

The tides of the Pleg-Mor Menez-Mikael deposits silt into the mouth of the Kouenon, and other nearby rivers, which in turn push the sediment out into the tidal flats. As a result the mouth of the river is constantly shifting, with sandbars and channels forming daily. As a result, navigation can be tricky, even for a seasoned navigator, despite the slow-moving current and relatively calm waters.
