Fermion Electronic Warfare Platform

The Fermion Electronic Warfare Platform is a non lethal weapon commonly employed by the Hyperion Federation.
The Fermion is the primary form of electronic warfare used by the HF, at least for the roles of jamming enemy equipment and detecting cloaked starships or subspatial starships. It has gained a reliable reputation that many can trust their lives on.
All variants of the Fermion can focus its search beam to give it better range and detection chance at longer ranges. However, this also reduces the area it searches.   It has several Colour Variants:
  • Cloaking Inhibitor (decloak most ships) (Bright Colour Variant)
  • Jammer (Jams communications, radars, missile guidance, ect.) (Red Colour Variant)
  • Subspatial Starship Detection (Detects objects hiding in higher dimensions) (Purple Colour Variant)
  • Tachyonic Radar (Extremely efficient Superluminal detection but takes up a turret hardpoint) (Yellow Colour Variant)
  • Time Dilation (Speeds up time for the target area, making everything around them appear faster) (Green Colour Variant)
  • Length Contraction Line (True Red Colour Variant)

  • True Red   The True Red Colour Variant of the Fermion Electronic Warfare Platform.   The Length Contraction Field is more remiscient of a cylinder shaped area of space. From one side, the distance observed will be extremely far. From the other side, the distance appears to be much shorter. This effect is a result of a very warped gravitational field. This is performed by the Fermion itself, which can refract gravitons in such a way to cause the phenomenon by inducing relativistic effects in the effected area. This can be exploited by clever officers thinking outside the box.   Some might fire the field to shorten the effective distance to a target and then fire short range weapons at what would otherwise be a medium range. The HF uses strategies like this to launch surprise attacks.   It can also be used to retreat more rapidly. It can shorten the distance to fly very far away from an enemy craft. Such strategies have saved many lives. However, due to how orbital mechanics work, starships are always in motion relative to a planet they orbit. If a Fermion places its field, the field will remain there but the ship will not. This can make the tool extremely difficult to use in many cases. In deep space battles this isnt an issue but if done wrong an enemy can even use the field against the side that placed it.
