Graviton Wave Refraction
Graviton Wave Refraction is a technology used by most spacefaring factions with a level of technology more advanced than that of the Ikagohoh Clan.
Graviton wave refraction allows the manipulation of gravitational waves by refracting them in specially designed lenses. This can cause a gravitational field to focus at a point or manipulate it in a way to completely avoid a point. This technology is useful as it allows the manipulation of gravity to a surprisignly high precision, especially on starships.
To create gravitational waves, the particle collider actually alternates it's power very rapidly. The graph of the gravitational field created by the machine over time will roughly follow a sine wave with the peak at roughly 2g and trough at 0g. This way the field forms a wave and can be refracted. The frequency of this sine wave is so high that these changes are not noticeable to anyone on the starship. If coupled with a particle collider that creates gravitons, the gravitons can be sent through the entire starship and distributed to every room using refraction lenses. These graviton channels are capable of directing an extremely dense gravitational field, which is a significant hazard to anyone working on the ship. Most factions require these graviton channels to be disabled before work can commence, especially because a gravitational field is not visible to the human eye. In a natural gravitational field, such as near a planet, there are no gravitational waves present to refract because there is no change in the gravitational field. As such, refraction is impossible but it is possible to reflect gravitational fields using reflection technology. This can be used to 'bend' a natural G-field around an object, making it experience no or less gravity, or more depending on how gravity is reflected. With enough application of the technology, one can terraform entire worlds to have less gravity by directing large fractions of the gravitational field through large rods at both planetary poles. Particularly powerful factions are able to weaponise gravity using a similar technology. The HF has done this in the form of the Directed Gravitational Beam Cannon, by placing a large quantity of graviton particle colliders within the weapon and storing gravitons in a canister-like object laid with graviton mirrors. This is capable of storing an extremely high density of gravitons, each of which at a high energy. The DGBC fires this towards a target. However, despite the name of this technology, a similar material can also be used to reflect gravitons. This property is analagous to light bouncing off mirrors. Gravitons can even be refracted in a way that causes time dilation to occur if done in sufficiently high density. Although this requires a lot of power to perform, it can open up useful strategic options and allow friendly forces to react to situations more rapidly than the enemy. This phenomenon also grants fire rate boosts. The HF has done this in the form of the Fermion Electronic Warfare Platform.
