Thunder Cannon
The Thunder Cannon is one of the primary means of the Hyperion Federation military to eliminate enemy shields.
As it fires extremey powerful beams of electricity, it can damage an enemy shield to a much more effective degree than most other types of weapons. The Thunder Cannon is capable of generating a voltage into the teravolts and deliver an extremely powerful blast. At this voltage, it still delivers a powerful 90 kiloamp current, leading to a power output that rivals that of the Oblivion Assault Gun. The immense energies involved cause a massive energy signature, but the electric arcs also induce a large magnetic field. This magnetic field can easily act as an EMP, damaging equipment of both the HF and the target. The weapon creates an ionized channel between itself and the target allowing electricity to flow. Furthermore, it recieves a second current that goes from the target back to the weapon. This second current is required to complete the circuit allowing electricity to flow.
The Thunder Cannon was developed by a human of the Leosus Federation after the requirment for a new shield damaging weapon materialised. It completed against several other options, such as shield draining Graviton Cannon ammunition. In the end, multiple weapons were adapted, one of which would be the Tunder Cannon. The anti shield ammunition was also adopted. As its track record expanded, it slowly became more used on various kinds of starships.
