Season 5, Episode 8: "Flushbuster!" Report
General Summary
The Dream Team stood in line on the red carpet, watching intently as Roger Glipglorp announced the stars of the Pact Worlds, feeding into the gala they were about to attend.
They were horrified to find Chad in attendance, with milky-white eyes and a deadpan face, listed as an Agent of Confluence, and with none of his usual charm. However, the Barathu's arrival was then overshadowed by a violent protestor, Bartimus Leech, who claimed that the announcements surrounding Valentina Terris and Kumara Melacruz were lies, before being forced off of the facility.
Shaking themselves back to attentiveness, the watched as members of the Pact Council arrived with their guests, including Jun Zhao as a cultural guest from Aucturn, and Carsai the King. While several allies, including Melody and Hamat, made an appearance, it slowly became clear that the party was swimming with sharks.
On their turn to cross the carpet, the group wowed with the mystical arrivals of Carrot and Unari Dama, and the spectacles put on by Chamas, Cornelius, and Lockette. Once inside the dining hall, they mingled just long enough to secretly distribute their weapons and gear, and then the two groups split...
Beta Squad - The Dining Hall
Mist, Flay, Tesin, and their guests continued to mingle at the party, distracting attention away from their missing party members, and protecting their political allies and interests at the gala. Of note, the crew were able to defend Klendalikh during an impromptu debate on the Swarm with Alexander Marcus, lower tensions between Sizzghar and Zolan Ulivestra (while announcing their support for the former), and kept Idryll, Shalema, Hush, and Trinity from sneaking away.Alpha Squad - The Hotel
Meanwhile, Isra, Cornelius, Lockette, and Skiv hopped into action, and entered the hotel without notice. But as they climbed the floors of the hotel (through a variety of mishaps and despite a sabotaged elevator) it was very clear that they weren't the only ones after Cathadh's Feather... They were nonviolently waylaid by the Guardians of the Basin, who were simultaneously engaged with the Gorgon and agents of Project 9. While Ozz was initially meant to act as backup for Alpha Squad, she was also dragged into the fight, leaving the crew space to skirt by. They deployed the Flushbuster on the 5th floor to slow any reinforcements, and hastily made their way to the 8th floor executive suites...Ill Fate
The door opened. A tragedy in the making reared its ugly head. Across the Culinarium, the curse of the Horseman of Famine took root, stunning all who had eaten his tainted delicacies, and rendering multiple offenders with a terrible wilting. In the executive suites, Abelina Tremont, Nicotine, and a ghostly-looking Pulura rained magic and bullets at Skiv, sending him to the brink of the Doors of Death. Valentina returned, firing back with eldritch lightning, with no time to explain her sudden escape from Aucturn, as the fight broke out in earnest... Back at the gala, a bullet arced from the roof of the research institute, headed right for Mist's heart. But Chamas intervened, revealing the Blessings he had been saving since his initiation into the party, using a Card of Good Hope to save his warden, and take all the damage for himself. Dominic Altraeza put a bullet right through the Lashunta's forehead, and he crumbled into ash. But not before another Good Hope was invoked, and Chamas transferred his Blessing of the Hunter to Mist, asking him to rid the world of Jun Zhao once and for all... Tesin felt a wave of psychic nausea come over her, and Carrot's manifestation on the Idari reeled. Crumbling into stardust from some far-off source of eerie light, he begged his wife to return home, and Tesin felt a pull on her stomach, as the barrier protecting Ezorod trembled... And then, the true identity of Lucy was discovered -- a mask of Jestyr, who had arrived at the gala in the flesh. He revealed his possession of Cathadh's Feather, and plunged the ice knife directly into Unari's back. The weapon seemed to have a critical effect on the Demon, made worse by a flash of the Eclipse Malkin... Flay watched in horror as her god perished, but not before transfering an ember to her pocket, granting her the Butterfly Key. With the members of the Pact Council in dire straits, and their allies severely weakened, the Dream Team's enemies looked about the gala, and prepared to cull the herd...Rewards Granted

- All Cards of Ill Fate were collected from across the party.
- Chamas both revealed and spent two Cards of Good Hope, and transferred the Blessing of the Hunter to Mist.
- The Flushbuster was deployed.
