Flame in the Night
Flame in the Night (a.k.a. Flay)
Flame in the Night is a warrior from the Ikal Expanse, in particular the village of Noct, and a devout follower of Unari Dama. She is the cousin of Thunder in the Mist, and a relatively new member of the Dream Team.

Special abilities
- Beast in the Night (Reaction, 1/Day): You have discovered your heritage as the granddaughter of the Beast of Noct, and have been trained in one of the sword techniques he utilized in battle. Once per day, when you or an adjacent ally are struck by a critical hit, you may intervene with your blade, which grants the target Fortification for that attack (% = 5 x your character level). If you are protecting an adjacent ally, and the critical hit is confirmed despite the Fortification, you may spend 1 RP to take the attack instead.
- Ultraviolet (Full Action, 4 RP): You have mastered a technique that has alluded every warrior in your line, a mighty form connected to the very nature of the universe. As a full action, you move from your current location to somewhere within range, as if you had cast the spell dimension door (with your character level equal to the caster level). At the location you arrive at, you may make a single, specialized attack with any melee weapon, assuming there is a target in range. This attack ignores immunities, DR, ER, concealment, cover, and fortification, and is a critical hit on a 17, 18, 19, or 20. This is a non-magical (Ex) ability that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Personal history
Flay was born in Noct to two very prominent warriors, Demon in the Dark and Echo in the Night , the latter of which was the secret daughter of the infamous Beast in the Night (a mystery until very recently). After they died suddenly while Flay was still a toddler, she drifted between Noct and Wexa, where she was taken in by Warmth in the Clouds (an old friend of Beast).
She grew very attached to her "cousins" Mist and Wind, the trio often dreaming of a life beyond the jungle they'd known. It came as some shock to her when they both left for the stars, but she was enamored with the gadgets and games they returned with, hidden away in the treehouse that became her hideaway. This radically influenced Flay's personality, but she still stayed true to the customs of Noct, and became a fierce hunter in the shadow of her family's legacy.
In 317 AG, when the Cult of the Devourer laid waste to the Ikal Expanse, Flay was reunited with her cousin after years apart. She accompanied the Dream Team on their quest to rid the jungle of the cult's influence, and later left with them to explore the galaxy, where she has been ever since.
