Jestyr
(a.k.a. Groetus)
Jestyr is a powerful entity of many faces, with the sole goal of destroying all of existence. Although many cultists of the Great Old Ones recognize the name Jestyr as a servant of Nyarlathotep, more common folk know him as the dark god Groetus, imprisoned in the Boneyard of Pharasma, waiting for his day to devour all the souls in her domain. Previous attempts to classify this divine being resulted in the infamous Jestyr's Paradox, which claims that Jestyr cannot be a single entity, as Great Old Ones and the gods of this plane are well-known to have cosmically reactive energies. Despite this, the Jestyr is both of these creatures, and neither, and more.
Divine Domains
As the dark god Groetus, Jestyr bears the portfolios of empty spaces, oblivion, and ruins. As a Great Old One, Jestyr bears power over those who wear masks, take on multiple personalities, or lie about their true selves. He also bears strong ties to the Plane of Negative Energy, the Dark Tapestry, Leng, and the Void.
Holy Books & Codes
As there is no formal church for any aspect of Jestyr, and the majority of his followers consist of mad men, the Jestyr is not associated with any written teachings or holy texts. The Book of the Last Moon was a book of lore kept by followers of Groetus, but the text was lost at some point during the Gap.
Divine Symbols & Sigils
The aspect of Groetus is often depicted as a grinning, sinister moon, sometimes looming over the Boneyard. Other aspects of Jestyr usually involve the circus, collections of masks, and long, unwieldy scythes.
