Ezorod

Ezorod is an ancient bubble city nestled deep inside Mataras, nearly a day's travel from the Burning Archipelago (using the current level of technology present in the Sun Diver).

Defences

What Ezorod lacks in amenities, it makes up for in its defenses. The city is surround by an impenetrable bubble of darkness, which blocks all harmful effects of the sun, stops magic and psychics from spying inside, and acts as a giant solar panel that powers the entire city. The only way through is via a set of encrypted signals, which can be changed by the Master of Ezorod at will, and are mathematically impossible to decode without the key. The darkness itself is an extension of the Eshtayiv's shadow, the Elder Numen Carrot, whose touch is deadly to all mortals, and leaves a lasting curse in their flesh.   Better still, Carrot is capable of manipulating all aspects of Ezorod, including its many traps, and can create fiery undead from his victims. Access to the internals of Ezorod, a demiplane known as the Illuminant Heart, are protected by a complex working of three keys, which have been surrounded by trials for any who hope to walk the unhallowed halls. Carrot regularly shifts the keys around, increasing the difficulty of the challenges with each iteration, all while lying safely in the Engine of Darkness, nestled in the deepest reaches of the Heart.

Infrastructure

Unlike the bubble cities found in the Burning Archipelago, Ezorod was built to be the eternal prison of an immortal being, and thus was not equipped with means of gathering or storing resources. At one point a portal in the loading bay, which is currently attuned to Aucturn, was used to deliver supplies to its residents. This portal was part of a larger network of portals utilized by the city's architects, but has lied dormant for thousands of years, and many of the connected sites have since been destroyed.

Guilds and Factions

Currently, only the Dream Team calls Ezorod home, although this may change as they grow more familiar with the city.

History

Ezorod was built before the Gap by the Cult of the Elder Mythos, to imprison an Elder Numen known as the Eshtayiv, whose sole mission is to drown the Old Ones and Outer Gods in its ghostly light. The creature's imprisonment was the result of a decades-long quest, which caused the death of thousands of cultists, and was only possible due to the cooperation of the Eshtayiv's shadow, another Elder Numen by the auspicious name of Carrot.   At some point during the Gap the bubble city was abandoned, leaving Carrot to protect the city from within -- a period that lasted at least two thousand years. This ended when Tesin Movahesh became the city's Master, earning a long-term base for the Dream Team.

Architecture

Ezorod is built in the style of the Cult of the Elder Mythos, mixed with the technology of whatever mysterious race first constructed the bubble cities. The dark stone walls are often over 10-ft. thick, with sharp, geometric carvings reminiscent of brutalist architecture, and accompanying statues that venerate the Eshtayiv.
