Season 7, Episode 4: "The Name Game" Report
General Summary
Tesin entered her mother's mind, confronted with a fortress mindscape in shambles. The defenses torn down, gates hanging open, traps triggered and covered by inert nanite dust. At the door to Shalema's deepest subconscious, Tesin found a twisted version of herself — the blowback of Shalema's Splintering — who eagerly pushed for the two to work together, and kill both of their parents once and for all. While Tesin deliberated the reality of their relationship, she settled on saving Shalema, and cut down the Splinter before it could act, absorbing the last pieces of her psyche back into herself.
With nothing else in her way, she strode deeper, catching glimpses of core memories (all of which included Tesin, both as an adult and a child), until she arrived at the very center of the castle. Within, she found Shalema and Ololot in conflict, frozen in time as each attempted to stop the other. Drawing the Scythe of Memory through her psychic knives, Tesin entered the twisted bond between her parents...
Ololot was severed, his internal AI destroyed, and Shalema was saved.
Back on the Material Plane, Shalema fell unconscious to the ground, and Tesin followed Chamas to their next item of business — Annwen, lying in an induced coma, watched over by Oliver West. Compared to Ololot, banishing the manifestation of Idryll was a trifle, and Annwen awoke with sound mind, pulling the old crew of the Maelstrom into a motherly hug.
From here, the crew got some much-needed sleep, and spent the next three days getting to work.
- Lockette studied the Chronal Zygote, and with some help from Isra, determined that the egg was not biological, but in fact containing a magical, time-based effect. Breaking the egg activates the magic within.
- Lockette also began study of Forge Warden cores, particularly the drives used in the new ships provided by Vaughn. She also put in a request to study Noma through her connections with Nib, but they are currently being challenged due to the wanted status of the Dream Team.
- Lockette, Fish, and Melody have begun fixing up the ships on the Aga Jain, work that will later be offloaded to the Lotterbees.
- Isra rallied the Children of the Forge, confirming their desire to fight for their freedom, and then ventured deeper into her homeworld. Within, she read the logs of Grandsmith and Wynrey, which described the planet's capability to Skip, and later its limited ability to Hop. Vaughn used the latter ability in the past to escape this Petal, which is when Wynrey's logs stopped.
- Flay joined Unari Dama and Aroden for some video games and book reading sessions, picking up Aroden's copy of Excerpts from the Codex of Whispers. Within, she learned the Sanguination ritual, which could be used to convert a Wither creature back to normal.
- Mist used the Blessing of the Gardener to create a powerful garden on Ezorod, creating a planar connection to Night. He also spoke briefly with Kauma Gonjodonque, who hinted that he should look for mentions of Azkhrumdar in the history of the Entwined Infinities.
- Chamas left for Castrovel with the Warchiefs, where he found and killed Brianna (see Checking Boxes). The Warchiefs wiped out one of five major gangs in Qabarat, whose resources were directly supporting Project 9.
- After getting a rundown from Isra and Flay, Silver Sync Contracting dispatched to the Ikal Expanse and the Forge, where they began teaching the warriors there how to fly. Gillby and Warmth in the Clouds form an alliance between their respective peoples, and begin trade across Isra's network of portals.
- Tesin explored Night with her family, able to visit the plane fully since Alistair released the binding around Ezorod.
The TIME! Dimensional
In the final day of their three-day foray, Mist and Flay stepped away to enter the Rambling Road, carrying a sack of books meant for Patyr. They entered the First Avenue, where they encountered a fountain room first, followed immediately by a Ninth Avenue junction door... But as they considered escaping, they found time had begun to behave erratically, and that Flay was unable to contact Unari. With no apparent choice but to open the door, they found themselves thrust into the Dimension of Time, where a crystalline Time Dimensional waited for them. It swore they would regret their crimes against the natural order, and claimed to have the backing of the Monad, which was proven as Mist attempted to use the Blessing of the Explorer, and found himself unable. Realizing the scope of the trouble they were in, the cousin duo jumped into battle, only for Flay to succumb to a flurry of status effects, her body and mind slowly destroyed by the ravages of time itself. Her armor and sword were disintegrated, her sanity shattered, and then eventually her life was taken, all while Mist attempted desperately to damage this planar titan. While he made a valiant effort, even Mist wasn't strong enough to take on the Dimensional alone, and fell unconscious just before delivering the final blow. In response the Blessing of the Wonder was invoked, searching desperately for anything that could puncture the Monad's hold over time, eventually settling on an old grandfather clock... Nicholas Carter stepped from within, bewildered by the sudden challenge, surviving only because of the damage Mist had already done, and a little bit of his own luck. After the Dimensional fell, Nic quickly located the key to the next step on the Road, and pulled the cousins with him, leaving the heroes' fate in question...Rewards Granted
Tarot Deck
- Mist used the Blessing of the Gardener to create a garden in Ezorod, which created a planar nexus directly to Night. Later, the Blessing of the Wonder invoked itself to save Mist and Flay from the Time Dimensional.
- Flay's armor and sword were destroyed in her battle with the Time Dimensional.
