Project 9 Organization in The Centurion's Riddle | World Anvil

Project 9

Project 9 is a secret counter-culture terrorism squad living beneath the ruins of Station 9, an abandoned outpost on the southeastern edge of the Colonies of Castrovel. These Lashunta are trained in specialized psychic infiltration arts, and learn to integrate with a culture, define its core values, and then dismantle it. They are lead by a triumvirate of directors, with representation from Akura Corporation (funding), an unnamed university (R&D), and Jessel Kesh - the son of Morana Kesh, ruler of Qabarat (government). Jessel's involvement in Project 9 is one of the organization's greatest secrets, as his mother is known to be anti-corporate, and many agents assume he plans to one day overthrow her.

Structure

Project 9 is led by a board of directors, made up of a representative from Akura Corporation, an unnamed university, and Jessel Kesh. As the agents usually work independently, there is no official hierarchy among them outside seniority. If a new agent is to be trained, the Board simply selects a mentor. As disobeying the Board always leads to an instant death, their orders are followed without hesitation.

Culture

Agents of Project 9 are taken from their parents at an early age, usually before the child can form long-term memories, and completely indoctrinated in the dogma of the organization. Infiltrate, Obfuscate, Destroy. These words are drilled into every agents head, alongside moral values representative of the values of the Lashunta, and a sinister curiosity to learn the ways of others. Without flaw, agents consider themselves blessed to be a part of Project 9, and carry out their duties proudly. While there are none who have ever wavered (at least officially) all agents know the fate of those who dissent.

Agents are encouraged to show respect to their seniors, and to forge amicable relationships with the research and development team. Everyone is expected to do their part on the Station and for Project 9 - no job is too small.

Assets

Project 9 boasts over a hundred agents, and is well-funded by the Board. They regularly hire the brightest Lashunta minds to continue the organization's research into the limits of psychic infiltration techniques, and provide them with the best equipment known to the Pact Worlds. Officially Project 9 only owns the Station, but agents are required to remember the location of at least three safe houses on every Pact Worlds planet, including access keys and trap details, and often create their own when the opportunity arises.

Both the station and these safe houses contain state-of-the-art weapons and supplies, and are usually fortified enough to give agents the time to escape, or launch a counterattack.

History

The exact details of the founding of Project 9 are not known to most agents, but records shown that the organization is at least a century old, and has always been headquartered at Station 9.
