Season 6, Episode 6: "Alistair" Report
General Summary
Having survived several Avenues on the Rambling Road, defeating the Spirit of the Well, and earning the Scythe of Memory, Tesin was at last ready to break the barrier keeping her family in Night. Drawing on powers old and new, Carrot, the Daughters of Night, Ilvarti, Melody, and the Pyric Coven gathered as one, revealing the connection between Alistair and the River Styx, which Tesin was able to slice.
In the resulting explosion, Day flooded into Night, led by Alistair and his solar wisps, and those still able to stand rose to meet him. Tesin, Celeste, Selene, Hecate, and Illana remained, taking on son and brother, his radiance burning as their own magics froze. Tesin took the majority of the hits, her impressive constitution on display, while her daughters split up the battlefield with walls of ice and polar vortexes, spread curses and banes, and blessed each other with the mystic forces of forests and covens. Alistair responded with blinding fire and his searing touch, but with each wisp that fell, and each curse that slowed him, his fiery halo lessened, his physical prowess diminished.
In the end, with all wisps defeated and everyone staring stark at the Doors of Death, Alistair stood no taller than a five-year-old boy, his pain no longer manifested supernaturally, but in his tortured cries. With pity and sorrow, Tesin finished the fight with a soft blow, taking her son into her arms, and dove into his mind. Searching his psyche, she found the memory that had infested him, the pain of his father's banishment, and his mother's inaction. She shaved away this pain, absorbed into the Scythe of Memory, and Alistair slept peacefully at last -- the barrier around Night fully removed.
Almost immediately, Tesin was assaulted by a flurry of communications from Nib, who had been leading the assault outside Ezorod for a number of weeks. After receiving permission to board, she sent worried notifications into Night, which eventually earned Tesin and Melody's attention.
Back on the Material Plane, they found the entire bubble city covered in ash, where some great fire had roared through the structure, incinerating over a dozen invading cultists. The damage seemed to originate at the Access Beacon, where an ashen corpse crumbled outside Mist's access pod.
Inside, a mask of his perfect likeness waited, which the System identified as the Mask Maker...
