Season 7, Episode 3: "TRAVIS" Report

General Summary

While the majority of the Dream Team rested on the Rambling Road, Flay continued her conversation with Unari Dama, now joined by a mortal imprint of Aroden. He welcomed her to his library, offering up his knowledge and aid as long as their interests aligned, and pointed Flay towards the procurement of another White Flame, which she could use to revive Unari with the imprint in the Spectacles. Unfortunately, their conversation was cut short by outside interests, as the threat of TRAVIS still loomed, and so Flay exited the mindscape and rejoined her party.   Now outside the Shoot Key trial room, the group summoned Nicholas Carter, who was still incapable of reaching Valentina Terris. Although he was not concerned with her absence, he seemed annoyed by the lack of communication, and was eager to leave the subject behind. At their request, Nic Skipped half the party back to Ezorod, with the rest taken by Isra (and definitely not Chamas).   Back home, events had progressed beyond imagining, with TRAVIS locking his crew in the Access Beacon chamber upon their arrival. He acted incredibly erratic, particularly around mentions of Ololot's imprint, and seemed to have employed the citizens of Ezorod in a "processing" session. While Lockette and Mist attempted to reason with TRAVIS, Isra and Tesin became increasingly aware of a supernatural danger, with the former experiencing a new form of cross-reality migraine, and Tesin feeling a pull on her Womb of Darkness. In a flash, the duo realized TRAVIS was attempting to integrate the darkness engine in Ezorod, which explained the absence of Carrot and his children.   In a tense discussion, Lockette recommended augmenting TRAVIS such that he had three balanced cores, following the pattern seen in the makeup of Triune, Confluence, and Harmonic Trinitarianism. Seeking a candidate, Mist eventually offered up the Fivefold Cauldron as a possible foci, although the mystics in the group worried about operating the vessel without a coven. Thankfully Binder was well-versed in such topics, and so the crew snapped into action.   Lockette used the twinned Blessings of the Navigator and the Explorer to pull the Cauldron to Ezorod, and then covered the party in a shield of nanites as TRAVIS converged on the crew. Using the Book of Nicodemus tattooed into his arm, Chamas revealed that he was capable of conducting the ritual, and bound the party to each other and the Cauldron, forming a coven of seven dreamers. Then B bound the Cauldron to TRAVIS in a flash of the arcane, and the room was flooded with light.   When the dust settled, TRAVIS appeared to have fully stabilized, although he had no memory of the past few days. The citizens of Ezorod awoke battered, but otherwise unharmed, and Carrot emerged from the lower levels of Ezorod, having successfully defended the Eshtayiv's prison. The crew then gathered in the AI Bay of the Aga Jain, where they found the Fivefold Cauldron fully installed, as well as Ololot and Shalema in the adjacent brig. The duo were in stasis, with Shalema's psychic knives piercing her own skull, likely in a desperate attempt to stop Ololot from his recent course of action.   Before dealing with the Free Captain, the group decided to finalize the ritual to form their coven, drinking from the Cauldron in sequence, and sharing in its potent regenerative magics (Chamas got his tentacles back!). To everyone's surprise, the Efreeti-blessed vessel decided to grant them a Wish, which exploded into a lengthy session of discussion. Eventually, the party settled on teleporting Vaughn Blackblood from his current predicament (see It Won't Be Long - Season 7), and the Spire came crashing into the docks.   They found the Oni fairly bruised, in the form of a Tien Human they had never seen before, although he quickly righted this when connected to his tower. While hesitant to offer them true thanks, he did agree that they had eliminated a great deal of risk, and thus were deserving of reward. After flaunting the corpse of Crimson and the severed arm of Roarin' Ruby, he agreed to fight with the Dream Team at the Shadari Confederacy, bringing the full weight of his mercantile empire to bear.   In addition, he granted the Children of the Forge ten thousand single-pilot ships, capable of tuning with their specialized cores, which he had been amassing in preparation of a deal with Isra... To use the Forge as he had in the age of Wynrey, and Hop away from this world before the end. Isra agreed, and so the ships were transferred, along with 300 refurbished vessels for the tribes of the Ikal Expanse.   Then Vaughn bid Ezorod farewell, promising to return before the final fight, and the group returned to the AI Bay. Tesin looked to her mother, her own psychic knives at the ready, and then plunged them into Shalema's skull...
