Mikhael Engel (a.k.a. The Gorgon)

You might be looking for Ferro or Tera, who were framed for the Gorgon's crimes and imprisoned in the Gorgon's Cell. This article is specifically about Mikhael, the true Gorgon.

The Gorgon is an S-Class criminal of the Pact Worlds, and a prominent figure in the Cult of the Elder Mythos. The Dream Team has confirmed that Mikhael is a Vampire, although this is not reflect in public record.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Little is known about Mikhael's past, other than a vague affiliation with Ferro, and a history of committing atrocities -- including the marring of Ragarot, and the abuse of Pin. Tera implied that he destroyed a trio of planets out in the Vast, but circumstances did not allow for further elaboration.

On Varos

As a legend, the Gorgon was a folk hero of the death moon Varos, and the highest-profile inmate of the Sauna. While originally housed on the floating prison, he was later incarcerated in his own cell on the surface, surrounded by robotic guards that he couldn't influence with his silver tongue. Although his exploits were muddied by rumor, his many escapes were well-documented, particularly his voyage to the Jasper in 316 AG. Other, noteworthy tales include his defeat of twelve Barathu guards at once, escaping his cell in Sauna with his bare hands, and a bizarre encounter involving a self-made EMP.

At the time, no one knew much about the Gorgon at all, and it seems he became well-known only after his imprisonment on Varos. His exploits were later attributed to Ferro and Tera, who Mikhael had framed for his own crimes, allowing him to roam free in the Pact Worlds.

Employment

Despite every intelligence organization claiming he is a leader in the Cult, the Gorgon often seems content to act on his own, and may even work for enemies of the Cult if it suits him. Mikhael leads the Cult's G.O.L.A.R.I.O.N. team, and works as a freelancer for both Alexander Marcus and Vaughn Blackblood. It is unclear if he works for other organizations, but it is likely that other black market dwellers would seek his services.

Recently, Mist contracted the Gorgon through Vaughn, to peacefully recover Varos Mining Team 4 and Ricardo Dominguez from Thyst. Mikhael seemed unperturbed at the request, nor Vaughn's condition that part of his memory would be wiped afterwards, to ensure the privacy of his clients.

Morality & Philosophy

If Mikhael ever had a moral code, he must have lost it somewhere in his travels. The Gorgon does what he wants, when he wants, and seems to care little for the rippling consequences. This makes him particularly difficult to track, as he will often leave Aucturn for days at a time to pursue some random goal. Mikhael is also nigh-impossible to profile, given the swiftness at which he changes allegiance -- with the Cult being the only notable exception.
