The Gorgon's Cell

The Gorgon’s Cell is the high-profile sister prison of the Sauna, located on the surface of Varos, visible from the northeast steps of Sauna Station. Although it is managed by the Barathu, the prison itself is manned entirely by robotic enforcers, who consider all organic lifeforms within a mile as hostile. They rotate out in 24-hour shifts to the Jasper, as the planet’s climate causes their circuits to become unstable over time. While he has never been seen by the public, the Gorgon is somewhat of a folk hero to the prisoners of the Sauna. Tales of his attempted escapes are often shared over meal times – his most-famous being the time he actually landed on the Jasper – although the Barathu have recently attempted to discourage this pastime. He is considered incredibly crafty, unequivocally dangerous, and a veritable master of combat. It is said that only the Barathu were qualified enough to hold him long-term, although other governments have attempted to do so throughout the past two decades. The Gorgon’s Cell is a testament to these tales, having been built upon with each of the Gorgon’s near-escapes, ending in the monstrous facility it exists as today. After the last update, there has not been a breach of the cell’s outer walls in almost twelve months, although tales of his hi-jinks inside abound among the prisoners.
