  • Historical: Valley of Plenty article, talk about the previous residents of the valley and other rumours of the past.

  • Power
    Prompt 1: Organization template. A powerful organization. Historical: Protectors of the Valley, those that were equipped with special runic armour and sent to defend the Valley from various threats.   Prompt 2: Settlement template. A Seat of Power of any kind. Historical: The Watchtower, main base of the Protectors of the Valley.   Prompt 3: Material template. A resource that provides fuel or power. Historical: Runic Crystals, which were said to be used as ingredient for constructing Ancient Runes. Physical descriptions.   Prompt 4: Species template. An animal associated with, or symbolizing, power. Modern: War Eagles [Giant Eagle] , symbol of the more successful nobles   Prompt 5: Ethnicity template: A culture that has suffered under the rule of a stronger nation. Historical: Qulaesha, a story about a group that lived underground and got conquered and abused by a group ruled by a dragon [Ancient Red Dragon -> Ravener]   Prompt 6: Military Conflict template. A conflict between two unequal powers. Historical: The Qulaeshan Uprising. Abused group rose up, had to flee, part covered the retreat, they used stolen goods to trigger a collapse and make the dragon believe they had died   Prompt 7: Title/Rank template. The title and responsibilities of an important person. Historical: Rune Master, those capable of carving Ancient Runes made with Runic Crystals, used for unknown protective spells at locations or in equipment   Prompt 8: (Super-)Natural Law template. A destructive (super)natural event. Historical+Modern: Spring Floods, which occasionally are real nasty. Not done because not enough new content: The Burn, specifically the returning heavy fire, as much as is known about it.
    Frontier
    Prompt 11: Geography template. An unclaimed, unregulated, or lawless region in your setting. Modern: Northern Swamp, located near the former mining village.   Prompt 12: Settlement template. A settlement at the limits of the “known” or “civilized” world. Stormfarers: Twilight Station, a Hyperseabase located in a hard-to-reach area, not only a dark matter mining area but also the only supply point through which to reach several small systems that people claimed / are exploring / take refuge on   Prompt 13: Profession template. A job that takes its practitioners to remote or faraway places. Modern: Scout/Explorer aka Adventurers. They go around by themselves but also take assignments, using intermediaries at times to not get cheated (Crow's Nest link here)   Prompt 14: Species template. An animal found in a non-populated area. Modern: Swamp Swans, living in the swamp from prompt 11. Reskinned Terror Shrikes, with wing attacks and Harrowing Honks.   Prompt 15: Species template. A useful plant found in a wild area of your world. Modern: Deep Shrooms, a mushroom only found deep underground in mines. Rejected: Silvertree, as one of the ingredients for ancient runes dye, to work into the later dryads plot   Prompt 16: Material template. A material or natural resource that comes from a dangerous location. Modern: Cold Iron (rejected idea: Silvertree Sap)   Prompt 17: Character template. A character driven by wanderlust or the desire to explore. Modern: Sicabe, leader of the Hollowguard, an explorer party   Prompt 18: Tradition template. A cuisine from a sparse, barren, or remote region in your world. Modern: Deep Stew, made from Deep Shrooms and other ingredients. Eaten by miners. Improves vision for multiple hours.
     
    Relic
    Prompt 21: Tradition template. A tradition or behavior considered old-fashioned. Modern: The Mirror-fist salute, a salute with greeting done by those seeing each other after a duty is completed.   Prompt 22: Item template. An item of great cultural or religious significance to a people. Modern: Ancient Runes, the runes carved by Runemasters into many objects. In the current valley, they signify safe places as they carry with them varying effects.   Prompt 23: Settlement template. An ancient city that is still inhabited today Modern: Blackgate City, a city deep underground of unknown origin, now used as a mining base by the Red-Mountain Dwarves.   Prompt 24: Character template. A historical figure still venerated today, and why. Modern: Queen Oleserd Battleforged, first ruler of the Valley. Made queen at age 43, abdicated age 79, said to have led her troops in battle. Even decades later she still aided technological research, she is said to have been involved in ancient runes.   Prompt 25: Profession template. A profession that has been rendered obsolete. Modern: Mercenary Fixers, since the Crow's Nest replaced them.   Prompt 26: Myth template. A children's tale or song based on a real event. Modern: The Dragon & The Mice, a story about how mice had to be sneaky to deal with a dragon. See oppressed minority.   Prompt 27: Species template. A species now considered extinct. Modern: Arboreals/Treants, not seen anywhere in centuries. But in reality they have a population in the valley.   Prompt 28: Ethnicity template. A historical culture whose influence is still felt today. Modern: Phekar Empire, which used to contain several countries. One of them is the old country, the war was started by another.
    Communication
    Prompt 31: Vehicle template. A method used to carry goods over long distances. Stormfarers: The Yggdrasil class, a Titan subclass engineered to handle climate control and artificial gravity for the Terraforming Seeds it transports.   Prompt 32: Technology template. A system to send messages between distant places. Stormfarers: Hyperchat, a way to send signals through Hyperspace far faster than any ship can go, allowing for short-distance near-instant communication and long-distant distress calls.   Prompt 33: Language template. A form of silent communication. Modern: Scout Signs, gestures made with arms, weapons, shields and whatnot, for longer-distance silent communication. Useful when hunting/etc.   Prompt 34: Organization template. An organization for which recruiting or proselytizing is important. Modern: The Valley's Army, which needs more soldiers but also train people for guards, so they need help from scouts and mercenaries to train folks.   Prompt 35: Species template. A species with an unusual form of communication. Modern: Dryads, which communicate through smells.   Prompt 36: Character template. A character who excels in manipulating others through communication. Modern: Lady Ruby-Eyed. The princess who is in disguise as scholar of the Ravenmight Institute.   Prompt 37: Document template. An important public announcement that one person addressed to many. Modern: Call to Arms, a plea from the army that people should report to them for training, and that they also are recruiting soldiers.   Prompt 38: Building template. A building or landmark used for, or associated with, communication. Stormfarers: Hyperchat Towers, buildings with hyperspace sensors that can catch Hyperchat messages and allow for receiving communication. Sending takes a lot more energy, on account of being in the middle of a system.
     
    Wild Cards
    Prompt 9: Species template. A species known for its mischievous personality. Modern: Feathered Rats [Velociraptor-based] , a species that likes to prank each other and humanoids by moving items from 1 stash to another. They hunt vermin and even larger creatures in small packs, willing to trade prey for tastier treats.   Prompt 10: Tradition template. A popular summer tradition that involves art and creativity. Modern: Sandshells. Sand castles with shells, to make the prettiest and shiniest constructions, then keep the shells afterwards as souvenir (some will trade shells with each other)   Prompt 19: Building template. An iconic building or landmark representing a location. Stormfarers: Hypersea Bases, special starbases located in Hyperspace that are meant to gatekeep access to systems   Prompt 20: Document template. A letter sent in secret by a well-known person in your world. Stormfarers: Roya's Letter. A letter from Roya to Steel Sky management, warning them of the consequences if they don't take care of 'Peacemaker'   Prompt 29: Tradition template. A ceremony that represent a transition or transfer. Modern: Passing of the Glove. Handing over of the guard, followed by some noble houses and mercenary groups, successing ceremony which includes usage of the mirror-fist salute.
    Wild Cards
    Prompt 30: Natural Law template. A rare natural phenomenon that most people look forward to. Stormfarers: Dark Pulsar, a dark energy pulse which some star systems have which impacts the hypersea and temporarily makes it more quiet. This lets larger starships essentially take a shortcut for a while.   Prompt 39: Character template. A character who prefers to lurk in the shadows. Modern: Blue Crow. Local leader of the Crow's Nest, only goes out using Illusory Disguise.   Prompt 40: Condition template. A “negative” condition that has hidden advantages. Modern: Lightfever, caused by exposure to pollen of certain plants, gives fever and makes sensitive to heat and light during its duration. At the same time, that allows one to resist cold environments better and handle the dark. Used by some miners, especially in situations where gasleaks are suspected.   Prompt 41: Organization template. An organisation dedicated to keeping a major secret from the public. Stormfarers: The Thalesians, the scientists in charge of Thales Station that restrict what knowledge they share, so that humanity does not end up in an endless war.
     

    Prompt 42: Myth template. A myth or truth about the meaning of your universe. Stormfarers: The Stormfarers' Creed. What is the meaning of life? For a Stormfarer, once you get past all the bluster, the answer is simple.  
    We live to feel alive.
