The Valley's Army

The valley has a lot of armed forces, but all of them from different origins. Scouts, mercenaries, forces of noble families, bodyguards of merchants, knight orders, and a limited amount of normal soldiers. This last group is now called the Valley's army, and they are in desperate need of reinforcements.   With the war going on in the old country, the army was already stretched thin to defend the western border. In the eastern part of the country, mercenaries and scouts had to be hired to help defend towns against hostile creatures and bandits. And then, disaster came with the sabotage of the largest water reservoir. If it weren't for the Ravenmight Institute, thousands would have died.   Escorting the refugees, as many remaining troops as possible have come to the valley, but even then their numbers are too scarce. The Kilcomb Faction does provide aid with their own troops, but they still must hold back as they need to keep the Montchild Faction in check. The current troops can barely keep the High Plains safe.   If that was all that was needed, then the army would be able to stand tall. But with so many farmlands and towns destroyed by the flood, it is only a matter of time before starvation arrives for the people that had to stay behind. The Montchild Faction would love that. So far, they only support the valley's exploration because of peer pressure, a support that is fickle and will end soon.   So the valley must be explored, more land must be claimed, more farms must be sowed, so that thousands can live and not starve. But every piece of land must be fought for, as hostile creatures are everywhere. There is only one way to salvage this, and that is by reinforcing the army. Troops must be recruited, as soon as possible.   For now, civilians are trained by command of the Wooden Shields, through the Call to Arms. Hopefully, some of the trained civilians will join the army, relieving the existing troops. This will let the army spread further, so that the wolves and birds can be pushed back. But will enough people join? With the clock ticking, all the army can do is pray.
