The Qulaeshan Uprising

The Qulaesha suffered under the rule of an ancient red dragon, being forced to mine precious metals and gemstones for it as their families were kept hostage. If they did not gather enough, death would follow. If one upset their volatile overlord, it would often kill random individuals for sport. And sometimes, it would murder out of pure malice.   As they grew weaker due to a lack of resources, the Qulaesha realised there was no salvation possible for them. In the end, they would either die from exhaustion, danger, the dragon, or at the hands of its crueler servants. Faced with this reality, all they could do is choose the time and place of their death. Or at least, that is what they wanted the dragon to believe.
Uprising
Every now and then, the dragon would get in a good mood as it would prepare to go out and terrorize other places. During its leave, its servants would be the only ones in charge. The Qulaesha prepared their uprising for many months, in anticipation of such a period. Then, mere hours before they expected the dragon to return, with its roars already echoing through the tunnels, the Qulaesha struck and explosions devastated several parts of the dragon's lair.   Amongst the stockpiles of the dragon, there were many alchemical items. The Qulaesha had tunneled their way into these rooms and had left traps ready to blow all around. In the chaos, they shook off their guards and rushed for the hostages. Yet some of the cruel servants had hidden extra troops nearby and cut off their escape. Facing their doom, with the dragon's wings already audible nearby, the Qulaesha used their last explosives to collapse the cavern they were trapped in.
True fate
In reality, the Qulaesha had always planned to lose. They knew the dragon was cruel and it had several ways of tracking anyone that fled. Never would they be safe even if they initially got away. Thus, the only way to escape was to die. Or at least, make the dragon think they had all died.   Through a single hidden tunnel, its entrance rigged to crumble behind them without a trace, they fled. Several bones and explosives had been planted in such a way that even if the dragon had its troops dig, evidence of their demise would still be found. And so, they escaped from the dragon's grasp.

This is clever! You have clearly laid out the conditions and parties involved in the conflict, what happened, why it happened, and what the outcome was. My only critique would be to suggest that you might make use of more of the template? That "belligerents" or "sides" function can be very useful for providing an overview of a conflict at a glance, which is why Wikipedia articles often have that sort of information in a sidebar. But all the requirements I want to see in a military conflict article are present here. I imagine that if you'd had more time, you might have added some illustrations or quotes? Still, excellent work.
