BMN-1 "Bellman" Fast Attack Auto-Armor

The BMN-1 "Bellman" is a model of fast attack auto-armor produced by Vale Mechatronics for the exclusive use of the Petalcap Vale Department of Defense, particularly its unique Knights of the Bell formation. The Bellman combines durable armor with a powerful dieseltech compressor system to create a highly survivable chassis for use in first strike actions.

Power Generation

In stark contrast to the Brushaxes the Bellman is typically deployed alongside, the Bellman's performance-first design philosophy leaves little room for stealth. The suit's dieseltech power plant is small but mighty, featuring improved injectors and forced air induction to maximize power output. The Bellman features a toggleable train whistle at its exhaust port, the report of which can signal allies from miles away without need for radio equipment.

Propulsion

The dual pneumatic reservoirs of the Bellman fill and discharge quickly thanks to a set of carefully polished valves, allowing the operator to move with impressive speed. The main drawback of this arrangement is that, in doing so, the suit is more clumsy than other comparable models because of air's ability to expand and contract; even skilled operators are prone to overshooting their destination when running, swinging widely with melee weapons, or having to pause when shooting to account for actuators still recovering from sudden movements. Bellman operators can easily crash through the enemy's defensive formations, but, unlike the KF "Knave" Fast Attack Auto-Armor, have a much harder time breaking engagement once committed due to their momentum.

Weapons & Armament

The Bellman suit itself is a sort of weapon, granting the operator the ability to tackle opponents with overwhelming speed and force. A close-in fighter that excels in urban environments, the Bellman's typical armaments include the bellhammer (a type of two-handed club or flail that rings on impact) and a short-barreled assault rifle. Bellman operators typically do not carry a shield or other unneccesary mass that might slow their advance, making their firepower underwhelming at intermediate to long ranges.

Armor and defense

The Bellman is comparatively heavily-armored for a fast attack auto-armor model, sporting sandwiched metal and cellulomold plates to deflect shrapnel and disperse the energy of small arms rounds. As with other fast attack auto-armors, speed is also an element of the Bellman's defensive strategy; operators are encouraged to rush into the enemy lines, forcing the enemy to engage at point-blank range and risk catching their allies in the cross-fire.

Sensors

To compensate for the disorienting speed that it grants it's operator, the Bellman features a gyroscopically-stabilized gimbal display and miniature magnetic armillary in its visor to help the operator keep their bearings even in uneven terrain. The helmet also features labyrinthine vents and special baffles to help exclude sounds likely to induce hearing loss.
