The Outter City

This city was constructed in the furthest outposts of the CHG in the 4th Great Expansion, the biggest expansion of human territory in human history, in the 26th century. It is home to 13 million people and, due to how ridiculously far it is from any other form of human civilization (as, despite the CHG expanding into the area, almost nobody actually lives in the area gained by the 4th Great Expansion), it has to be completely self-sufficient and autonomous.

Demographics

People from all across the CHG have come here for financial gain, escape from past events and the like. Very racially and ethnically diverse. Wealth classes were there from the beginning as a few private companies have rolled in to make use of the resources available and their higher-paid workers get to be considered upper-class. Intelligent non-humans are generally used as secret slave labour and there are plenty of not-as-secret GMO human slaves.

Government

Autonomous: Everyone votes for a mayor of the city as well as a governor of their neighborhood. The CHG is not happy about the deviation from the usual system within it but aren't seriously going to waste tonnes of resources on a war over it.

Defences

It doesn't actually have much beyond keeping the dangerous wild animals away. There are no nearby space empires to pose a threat and so no "stuff for an actual war" style defenses exist here.

Industry & Trade

Self-sufficient, baby. Technology means that only 1/10,000 people or so need to actually work in food production to keep everyone fed and everyone else either raids alien ruins, builds the structures that the city is still lacking, does various services or makes various useful goodies for everyone else in the city.

Infrastructure

There isn't that much in that regard, with many people living inside of space ships that are just kept on the ground within the city. A few space-scratcher buildings are clustered in the middle but otherwise it's more like a caravan park but with space ships.

Assets

Lots of lovely resources, some of which the CHG-built planets have absolutely none of. Ancient alien ruins are all over the place and being looted all the time for useful technology and priceless trinkets.

Guilds and Factions

There are a few major gangs, plenty of political factions, a few religious groups and a pirate presence within the city. Oh and those CHG agents keeping an eye on things so that the city and the surrounding settlements don't think of anything silly like trying to secede from the CHG.

History

The CHG did the 4th Great Expansion in the direction that is away from the LIR to find a general lack of any space empires, finding only ruins of old ones instead. This was pretty cool: literally nobody trying to stop you from expanding into there. But then hardly anyone actually moved from their planets to this new turf, especially the further reaches of it, so in the furthest areas the only major city (and in a normal context a city with such a low population wouldn't have a hope of being considered major) is the Outter City.

Since the CHG splatted down a spaceport and 3 space-scratcher buildings, plenty of colonists have docked their ships to live here. A pirate presence has appeared, raiding the ships that travel to and from the city, and various political factions and gangs have formed.

Not much else can be said for the place simply due to how new it is. Not enough has happened. But the place definitely does have an interesting future ahead of it.

Architecture

Not much of it. Less than a dozen space-scratcher buildings containing factories, shops and residences. Almost everything else is basically just farms or ships lying around with people living in them and going into the space-scratchers to trade.

Geography

There are mountains to the East of it and the ocean to the West of it, meaning it can only expand northwards and southwards. The area itself used to basically be a swamp (which can still be seen around the edges of the city), and there are deserts to the North.

Natural Resources

Uranium in massive quantities in the magma which is extracted and then either exported or used to power ships. The fertility of the land in the area is very important to feeding the local population. Iron, nickel and copper are plentiful but not to a ridiculous degree.
