The Sagwalli Book of Deeds
Nothing to see here, just a collection of every known act of badassery the Templar is aware of, as well as all their religious beliefs.
Purpose
Basically the Bible but for hyper-militaristic religious Sagwalli of the Sagwalli Templar. The badass stories are basically "if all these can do badass stuff so can you" + "oh and these guys totally got blessed by the gods which you can get by praying and being loyal to the templar so do that too", as well as simply recording history.
Document Structure
Clauses
It begins with the rules all Sagwalli must follow, then goes into their beliefs about reality and existence (Void is ancestor to all the gods, Toppers (top lads in the LIR) are prophets that Sagwalli exist to fight for, etc), and is then followed by less important stories of Sagwalli culture - many children's stories included, and finally there are the tales of all Sagwalli heroes. Any time a Sagwalli warrior achieves something awesome and records the act, which generally happens a dozen times a day, knowledge of their acts are passed to Sagwalli and Topper scribes who write a tale in prose of them and their deed - although there are plenty of cases of Toppers being caught using AIs to write the stories for them so they can take longer breaks.
Caveats
Only seems to apply to Sagwalli, as they believe each species has different morality planned for it by the Void and its offspring, but are adamant that the Toppers have to be in charge.
References
The Bible is specifically referred to as "weak nonsense, in which only the Old Testament representation of the Void is even close to acceptable". Other religious books, both human and xeno are also insulted.
Publication Status
Open to be viewed by all of the public, with even those in the CHG being able to learn of the Sagwalli.
Legal status
Actual law in Sagwalli Templar territory (it's officially a nation within the LIR), social law in Sagwalli communities outside the Sagwalli Templar - although these are rare and usually only exist in otherwise dead areas due to Sagwalli not believing in contact with other races.
Historical Details
Background
Was originally made by a Topper philosopher during the initial formation of the Sagwalli Templar, when Toppers put themselves across as prophets to the Sagwalli to better convince them to fight and die for the newly forming The LIR or League of Intelligent Races against the Goners (3-4 foot tall lizard/velociraptor people), as a way to collect data on their old culture and religion.
Later on, this Topper was assassinated and his book used in a book of the same name, but with additional details and even some things removed so the Sagwalli would fight for the LIR.
History
Every. Known. Act. Of. Badassery. By. Sagwalli.
And yet even more than that. The Sagwalli ultimately insisted on putting all the badass acts down, by everything, as all are considered important to the Void's plan, initially. This meant tonnes upon tonnes of human deeds due to our rather conflict-heavy nature and the manner in which we were introduced to the galaxy at large, which caused the Toppers to strike those human acts from the records by never adding them and only including those by historical individuals and those fighting for the LIR.
Even though the records were struck, traces of file corruption remain in the official file through which the book is shared, ultimately making it possible for those with good enough IT skills to see the deeds anyway.
Public Reaction
Most non-Sagwalli, and non-religious Sagwalli, are grossed out by it. It includes such things as having any adult who doesn't participate in the defence of a settlement you're attacking tortured to death to relieve them of the sin of not doing so in the eyes of the void before killing them, taking the kids and only accepting the final victor as one of you after you force them to all kill each other. Just in general filled with a lot of barbaric crap.
Legacy
Being the explanation behind a lot of Sagwalli Templar behaviour, like how they're especially hated for how they treated human prisoners after capturing a city during a CHG-LIR war.
