Creyola Nepomuk

So this is how a queen feels like...
— Creyola Nepomuk

Characteristics

Physical features

Nep ascended to the status of archfey, a transformation that imbued her with newfound power and bestowed upon her a distinctly fey appearance. She now bears a striking visage, marked by a pair of antler-like horns emerging from her forehead. Additionally, fiery streaks of red, reminiscent of flames, adorn her previously purple skin.   Despite this profound metamorphosis, the tattoos she acquired during her time as an adventurer remain visible upon her skin.

Mental traits

Nep can be quite chaotic; she once reveled in risking her life repeatedly but may now hesitate from such perilous endeavors due to her newfound responsibility as an archfey. Her adventures have seen her mature and adopt a more cautious approach.   Despite her transformation, Nep remains fiercely loyal to her friends and places great trust in her closest guards and servants, treating them with respect and generosity.   However, Nep is still susceptible to being easily provoked and occasionally falls victim to simple, foolish taunts.   Driven by a desire to prove herself as a superior queen compared to her predecessors, Nep harbors this ambition out of spite, determined to showcase her prowess to the Summer Court and the entirety of the Feywild.

Abilities

Nep started a powerful hexblade warlock, but discovered the path of devotion along the way, and also became a powerful oath of vengeance paladin.   Now reigning as the archfey of the Summer Court, Nep seamlessly merges her martial prowess and divine blessings with the enchantments of the Feywild. She wields the combined might of her adventuring experiences and the intrinsic boons granted by her fey heritage.

History

Backstory

Nep often found that men struggled with pronouncing her name correctly. Their tongues, it seemed, weren't equipped to articulate the letters of hell. This had been a persistent issue throughout her life, one that seemed destined to persist. Consequently, people had taken to calling her "Nep." Despite her initial distaste for the name, she eventually grew fond of it and carried it with pride.   Born as the second child of her tiefling mother, Nep's upbringing occurred in one of the dark, shadowy corners of a city, a typical scenario for tieflings. Her father, a human, remained an elusive figure in her life. Nep harbored a belief that no human would dare acknowledge a tiefling affair, especially one resulting in a child. To her, he was a coward, a trait she associated with most humans. Her elder half-brother, sharing the same red skin tone as their mother, treated her with disdain due to her distinct light shimmering blue skin. The disparity in their appearances fueled a lack of mutual respect and understanding.   Nep sought validation and acceptance. Her attempts to prove herself led her to seek a way to become a full tiefling, a journey marked by limited friendships with other tieflings, mostly the "weird ones." Despite the solace they provided, they couldn't alleviate her core problem. Ultimately, Nep turned to the gods for assistance.   She swore an oath to Aaron, pledging to raise his name in exchange for immeasurable power. The desire to feel the infernal fire course through her veins, igniting power and authority, drove her pursuit. However, as she gained power, she also attracted adversaries—former friends who sought to seize that power for themselves. Betrayal, once unthinkable from her own kind, became a harsh reality.   In the face of betrayal, injustice, and wickedness, living as a tiefling became increasingly challenging. Nep, having run away from home to protect herself and her loved ones, lost contact with many, including her mother. Her half-brother remained, and she hoped he would care for their mother.   Starting anew, Nep harnessed Aaron' waning power to train in various weapons and languages of potential allies and enemies. Her sole focus became revenge, a desire to make those who betrayed her suffer even more than she had. Nep met various individuals on her journey, viewing some as tools or levers to set her plans in motion. Despite her aversion to betrayal, she acknowledged that it might be her only option in achieving the vengeance she sought.

Campaign

After a reckless night in a tavern, Nep found herself locked in a cell in Megima alongside a few other prisoners. Her friend, Orianna arguing in Nep's favor.   In exchange for her time zorking with the guards, Nep and the other prisoner in her cell could be free. Initially, she perceived the group merely as a means to an end, contemplating the possibility of exploiting their kindness to further her own goals.   During their service, they encountered a tiefling blacksmith who, due to his heritage, was unjustly accused of being a firestarter. The adventurers also crossed paths with Lysandra, a Changeling using her abilities for thievery. As part of their duty, they were sent to Crow Perch, a nearby village plagued by bandits demanding money from travelers. The adventurers, in a fierce encounter, slew most of the bandits, earning themselves the moniker "Butcher of Crow Perch." Surprisingly, they spared the lone surviving bandit, Evandor Siannodel, and even saved him from danger.   Thanks to Evandor, the adventurers become entwined with the Elven Rebels, offering their assistance to the cause. The adventurers, now in contact with the rebels, meet Valia and Vari, who extend an offer to join their cause due to the mercy shown to Evandor. Accepting the offer would release them from their contract with the guards but brand them as wanted criminals. The decision is wrested from their hands when a clash erupts between the Soldiers of the Qwir and the elven rebels.   At this point, Nep recognized the potential for mutual benefit through collaboration with the other adventurer, and started to see them as friends rather than tools. As the conflict unfolds, witnessing the cruelty of the soldiers, the adventurers align themselves with the rebels and escape. Presumed dead in the conflict, the six adventurers find refuge with the rebels. Although they evade being wanted criminals, the rebels suffer significant losses and task the adventurers with a critical mission. They are to seek the assistance of the Sister of the Vale, dryads who may provide refuge for the elves in their protected forest.   Embarking on a journey to the Wood of the Vale, they encounter Eithne Flosthùl, the Green Enchantress. Despite her reluctance to allow such a large group into her forest, she agrees, not wanting to witness the unnecessary deaths of the elves. The adventurers learn of ruins within the woods, Craag An Ruins, and are informed that clearing the ruins will grant them access to the shelter.   Navigating the swampy part of the forest, the ruins prove to be a challenging labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and puzzles. The adventurers persevere, facing slimes, fungi, and a dragonbone golem in a large room before discovering a broken portal frame. Having cleared the dungeon, they return to the Dryad village of Craag An and meet Reyth alongside the Green Enchantress.   Encountering Reyth allow Nep to catch glimpse of his powers, uncovering the truth behind his might, Reyth is nothing less than a dragon shapeshifted into the form of an elf. She focus on him, discerning in him great promise and potency that could potentially bolster her own abilities. Despite her calculated pursuit of power, Nep grew to appreciate the camaraderie and companionship of her fellow adventurers. Among them, individuals like Galad, Marilith, and Orianna held a special place in her heart.   The main force of the elven rebels joins the adventurers in the Wood of the Vale, establishing a camp in the ruins that they begin to clean and transform into a suitable home. To their surprise, the large portal discovered by the adventurers turns out to be an invaluable gift for the rebels—an ancient portal to the Feywild. If repaired, this portal could provide a means for transporting large numbers of troops.   Valia Abalhan and Vari Abalhan devise a plan to repurpose the portal. Rather than linking it to the Feywild, they aim to connect it to other planes, drawing power from these planes to support their rebellion. However, repairing the portal is already a daunting task, and altering its destination seems impossible to Valia at the moment. Once again, the adventurers are called upon for assistance. Their new mission is to journey to the Feywild, seeking the counsel of the Archfey of the Summer Court. These powerful beings are likely to possess the knowledge of the secrets behind these portals and how to manipulate them.   Crossing into the Feywild, the adventurers encounter a peculiar creature—a raccoon-like beast folk named Tinkeroo. Initially caught picnicking in the ruins with a friend, Scare. He asks the adventurers to give him their names, to which they respond with their title "Butcher of Crow Perch", the title is humorously forfeited to the trickster.   Tinkeroo proves to be quite helpful. He guides the adventurers to Humbletown, the capital of the Autumn Court. Upon reaching the town, Tom takes his leave to consult with Hap'Robin, the Archfey of the Autumn Court. Tinkeroo, being indebted to Hap'Robin and lacking the ability to see colors, hopes to negotiate the return of his vision and his friend's voice in exchange for the adventurers' title.   Tinkeroo returns in a hurry, pursued by a group of vulpins, likely guards. He urges the adventurers to run and follow him. The guards catch up, and Tinkeroo and his friend manage to escape, leaving the adventurers to face the guards. After explaining their situation, the guards, led by one named Rox, decide to let the adventurers go. Rox offers to aid them, as he knows the region well and could guide them to the Summer Court in exchange for their assistance with a task.   His now-deceased grandfather was once an adventurer, and during his travels, he acquired a magical item—a cloak made from a single scale, the scale of an adult moonstone Dragon. Rox feels undeserving of the cloak and wishes to return it to the dragon to whom the scale belongs. The adventurers agree to assist, and with their new guide, they embark on a journey through the forests of the Autumn Court.   At the forest's edge, bordering the territories of the Spring and Autumn Courts, they encounter a Leshen that has plagued the region, causing fear among the inhabitants of the village of Red Leaf. The adventurers manage to defeat the creature.   Seeking refuge in Hels Kitchen in Red Leaf to recover. The adventurers, intrigued by the mention of the Spring Court, meet Capucine and Sakura the next day. The pixie couple is sad as they miss their friend Daeni, who is missing.   Investigating the disappearance, Galad learns of a mysterious place on the path to the Spring Court—a site where an old, dark, twisted tree stands on the tomb of countless fairies. Daeni, the faerie dragon, was last seen nearby.   The adventurers face off against the cursed tree, an opponent that Curses Nep with a certain Death in the weeks to come, a fate she will learn only later. Exploring the tomb beneath the tree, they manage to free the small faerie dragon.   Grateful for the adventurers' assistance, the pixies agree to guide them to the Floating Forest surrounding the World Tree, their home, and village. A grand celebration is organized by the pixies, who temporarily shrink the adventurers, allowing them to dance, drink, and revel with them. A moonstone dragon named Aeri the green also joins the festivities. At the adventurers' request, he agrees to take them to the ancient dragon to whom the scales belong, carrying them on his back.   Daenerys White Tooth, the ancient moonstone dragon, is the rightful owner of the scale. Her lair, hidden behind a large waterfall, is filled with silver items, as she loves the sound and shine of silver. Initially displeased at being disturbed, Daenerys finds the reason for the adventurers' visit amusing. She allows Rox to keep the scale and even gifts the party with silver. With their new acquisitions, the adventurers continue their journey to the Summer Court, guided by Rox.   On their journey to the Summer Court, guided by Rox, the party traverses the Silken Steel Forest. In this enchanting forest, they encounter talking spiders who reside in an immense web woven between the trees. The spiders' homes are crafted from silk cocoons hanging from the branches.   Helping the spiders with a minor task, the party gains their blessings to proceed. Exiting the forest, they are greeted by a squad of elves riding hippogriffs, who inquire about their intentions. After explaining their quest, they are escorted to Aechivia, the capital, and receive an invitation to meet with one of the queens of the Summer Court, Aledia Firetwist.   Upon meeting Queen Aledia, negotiations do not initially favor the adventurers. Aledia seeks entertainment, and the party offers little that she desires in exchange for the critical information they seek. Despite being welcomed as guests within the castle, they realize the need for a better offer. The next day, some members of the party meet with Cassandra Sunray, the second queen, who provides additional information to strengthen their negotiation position. Simultaneously, Galad assists a noble of Aechivia, Ly'leth Lunastre, and learn more about the Summer Court, while Nep obtains a Hippogriff. During the second meeting with Aledia, the urgency of Nep's curse is revealed. Aledia discloses that the curse is deadly and imposes a Time limit on the tiefling's life. Faced with the gravity of the situation, the party strikes a deal: in exchange for learning the secret of portal manipulation and curing Nep's curse, Marilith agrees to give her first child to the Summer Court, and Nep pledges to become a fey in service to the court as ordered. The terms are set, and the adventurers prepare for their return to the material plane. Aledia assures them that there will be no time warp as they cross back.   Nep views the pact with the fey queen, as a dual opportunity: a means of ensuring her survival while simultaneously gaining access to the formidable might of the archfey.   Back in the material planes, the elven rebels have transformed the ruins into a bustling headquarters hidden in the forest. The place is now equipped with dedicated areas for work, sleep, and meals.   The rebels haven't remained idle during the adventurers' absence. An expedition, led by Trillium and Ethan Bluefeather, aimed to free Fandral Staghelm, an Archdruid from the Circle of the Flame. Fandral, along with Valia and Vari, is one of the leaders of the rebels, and he greets the returning adventurers. The rebels have been sending scouting parties to the Elemental Plane of Fire, to plan how they'll capture the spirit of fire, the Phoenix, to bring its power to their plane and aid in their rebellion. However, Valia acknowledges that it will take weeks for the necessary preparations, and the large Phoenix cannot be brought without the redirected portal.   Given some time to rest, the adventurers are provided with elven weaponry. They engage in mundane tasks, such as gathering rare herbs and plants for a feast to strengthen the bond between the dryads and the rebels.

After the campaign

Epilogue

The day following the coronation, Nep approached the newly appointed elven king, Galad, to request a favor – to be transported to the Feywild using Megima's portal to Aechivia. Driven by a desire for a final vengeance, Nep, weakened by the curse withering her, consumed potions and medicine to strengthen herself before entering Aechivia.   Determined no one dared to stop the heroes who fought and won countless battles. Even the summer court watch, intimidated by Nep's presence allowed her to find their queens.   Upon arriving at the Nighthold, Nep faced the two queens, Aledia and Cassandra. They were aware of the tiefling arrival and ready to face her. They exchanged a few words, arguing with Nep about the curse and the betrayal, as each side thought it had been betrayed by the other.   Unable to reach a peaceful agreement, A fight was engaged, the archfey gaining the upper hand in the fight as their bond allowed them to work with each other.   But Nep ripped the necklace of firebeads on her neck and threw it at Aledia who was invisible. Turning the odds in her favor as Aledia was now visible again. However, this caused the main tower of the Nighthold to start to tip and collapse, debris making the battlefield more and more dangerous, forcing the fighters to escape outside.   Aledia used this opportunity to ambush Nep, gaining the upper hand again, as Nep yelled "stop" and Cassandra vouched to talk.   Cassandra offered Nep a deal, to abandon her life of fight in exchange for her protection, of both Aledia and the curse, but Nep would not live a life with the sword, and refused the offer, facing Aledia in a final battle.   Aledia, faster managed to kill Nep before she was killed, or so she thought, a magical Tattoo on Nep's skin allowing her to cling to life, just enough for her to push into Aledia's defense and kill her.   Cassandra, in a desperate attempt to save herself, rushes to Nep, driving a sword through her back, but it does not kill her, and Cassandra's life, linked to Aledia, is soon over as she falls onto Nep's feet, dead.   Faced with the crumbling Nighthold and the demise of the two queens, Nep escapes alongside soldiers, guiding nearby civilians to safety in Aechivia's large market. Despite mixed feelings of fear, anger, and respect toward her for slaying the previous queen, Nep addresses the survivors with a heartfelt monologue, declaring herself their leader and vowing unwavering loyalty. Moved by her words, the survivors bow in respect, acknowledging her as their new leader.   However, Nep is still under the effect of the curse, and her current fight has weakened her even more. If she wishes to reign over this court, she must hurry to find a cure for her curse. A druid is summoned to ease the tiefling's pain, but sadly, no mortal magic will be able to lift her curse in her current state. She hears about the power of the World Tree, as its wisdom may hold the key to her freedom.   With no time to spare, Nep rides a hippogriff to the Spring Court, rushing to the World Tree to seek the answers she desperately needs as her life fades away with each passing second. Once at the World Tree, she meets Fania, a high representative of the fairies and the Spring Court, who brings her into a lucid dream.   In this dream, she learns that the fairies, pixies, and sprites are born from the World Tree and are imbued with part of its memories. Those with enough mastery over their dreams may still contact the tree and its pool of wisdom, and Fania is one of those fairies.   She guides Nep into the deepest regions of this dream, acting as a beacon to contact the World Tree. Finally, Nep is met with an answer: her life is fated to end, and the sacrifice to artificially lengthen it will be enormous. Unsure if she's ready to pay such a price, Nep hesitates. However, thinking of her new duty, the people she vowed to protect, and the companions she had on her previous adventures, she decides that life is to be valued and cherished, and she accepts the deal.   Henceforth, Creyola Nepomuk will have to sacrifice the life of an innocent yearly to extend her own life, whether it be her own child or that of another. But it is only through this process that she will be able to live.   And so began the rulership of the tiefling as the Archfey of the Summer Court.
