Fire Cavern
Hidden in the valley that the Rheuthen River cuts through the mountains, just east from Crimson Peak, great cracks have appeared in the ground. Every few days, smoke and mist billow forth from these crevasses, rising to heights that can be seen Bentham and Tehrith. As it lies west of the river, it falls within the borders of the Grand Duchy, and even if their influence this far from the capital is spare, it has made surveying the phenomenon difficult. A few Galencian engineers were granted a week long pass, but were able to determine little in that time. They speculated that the great caverns exist below the surface, but were unable to explore any further. A few brave Khadric mining engineers stole past the borders but were driven back by Mennithite patrols before discovering anything. The Grand Duchy has made no comment about the phenomenon and has sent no official delegation. It appears, however, to those that observe this sort of thing, that they have increase patrols in the area.
