Lake Truth

Named by a Mennithite priest who travelled upriver inthe Rheuthengage Mountains and was awed by its beauty, this deep lake is indeed a sight to be seen. With most of its shoreline cut deeply into the surrounding rocks, the lake looks as if it is recessed into the mountainside. The southern and eastern shores, especially those around the outlet of the River Truth are far lower, perhaps five or six feet tall. Those to the north, however, climb to heights of twenty and thirty feet, with water extending another twenty feet or so right up against the shore. In the spring, melting snows and rain create hundreds of rivulets that cascade off of these cliffs. On sunny mornings and evenings they become awash with rainbows. Sadly, the western shore is marred by the soot and crumbling masonry of Ironstone. No one knows what created the lake but since its name, dozens have made pilgrimages to it, claiming to have communed with Mennith himself in its solitude.
