Fairshield

Fairshield is a medium sized town in County Slate. The town is known for its archives of pirate history and lore, having previously served as a pirate safehaven in centuries past. Currently, however, the town is experiencing a plague which is ravaging its people.

Demographics

Over 4600 people call Fairshield home. This population largely consists of humans. In fact, humans make up slightly more than 3/4 of the population. However, there are sizeable minorities of dwarves, elves, and half-elves. A smattering of other races, including dragonborn, gnomes, orcs, and others make up the rest.   It is a relatively young population, with most being under the age of 30.

Timeless Halberd

Nestled within the bustling heart of Fairshield, the Timeless Halberd stands as a bastion of weapon craftsmanship that transcends eras. Its presence exudes an air of reverence, drawing both seasoned warriors and curious wanderers through its intricately carved wooden doors. The showroom and the business end of things is typically handled by Raalboaj while Thornily Singlehelm works the forge and designs new creations for adventurers.

Guilds and Factions

The local Merchant's Guild manages to cling to life against the onslaught of the South Wind Trading Company which has begun aggressively trying to oust the more benign organization. The West Sea Trade Company, a much smaller group than either the Merchant's Guild or the South Wind Trading Company, is also attempting to gain a foothold in town, and thus far has enjoyed relative success due to their lower profile and general can-do attitude.   The Mage's Guild

History

The heraldry of Fairshield is emblematic of the colors for County Slate - blue and yellow. The blue symbolized the ocean, while the yellow represents the fields of grain and other crops worked by the people.   Early Settlement and Foundation: Fairshield's origin lies in the mists of antiquity. Its location along the southern coast of the Truris Kingdom made it a natural choice for a settlement. The earliest records suggest that the town was established as a humble fishing village, where the abundant marine resources sustained its growing population.   Growth as a Trade Hub: As the region evolved through the medieval era, Fairshield's strategic coastal position fostered maritime trade, propelling its growth. The establishment of a fortified structure—a modest castle—served to protect the town from external threats, enhancing its significance as a trading hub.
