Hastlet Woods
The Hastlet Woods is a small tropical deciduous forest situated a little bit more than three kilometers northwest of Castleport near the southern coast of Oduth. The forest is plentiful with herbs commonly used by alchemists, apothecaries, and mages.
Geography
The woods are situated on the southward facing slope of the Slate Hills, a larger geographic formation on the southern coast of Oduth. It rises, gradually at first, from a height of 75-meters above sea level to 260-meters above sea level over the course of roughly 3.5-kilometers. The terrain on the northern side becomes increasingly rough headed northward.
Fauna & Flora
The Hastlet Woods is home to a few predatory animals, including wolves and black bears. Given the small size of the forest, it is common for these predators to roam to nearby forests and other wooded areas, or will sometimes hunt in the hills to the north and east of the forest. This region is sparsely inhabited and is typically free of civilization.
Deer are also common fixtures in the forest and are popular hunting objects for both the local predators as well as hunters coming from Castleport.
The flora of the region include various broad-leafed trees such as Teak and Palm. Herbs such as Hawthorn, Witch Hazel, Forest Angelica, Thorn Sorrel, and Ceppeo Bud are prevalent in the forest and make for common medicinal ingredients.
