Truris Kingdom
The Truris Kingdom is a small nation on the southern coast of Oduth on the Starlight Peninsula. It is one of two nations to have borders on both the Sea of Nokostead and the Halifar Sea.
Culture
Truris culture is tight knit, warm, and welcoming. It is customary to welcome new community members with a special dish at a meal in their honor. The purpose of the meal is to get to know the community and for the community to get to know its new member. The meal will often be served in either the town hall or in the town square in the open. This is to encourage as many members of the town to participate in getting to know the individual(s). The food will be served communally, with the guest of honor being granted first servings.
Religion plays a minor and often private part of Truris life. However, in recent years, religious movements, spurred on by pirate raids from Garby Haven and incursions from theĀ Addelan Wastes, have risen all across the kingdom.
History
History of the Truris Kingdom
The Truris Kingdom was founded in 1128 when the Council of Embers elected Nasem Jesson to the position of King of Embermire. The neighboring fiefdoms soon acknowledged the claim to the crown with a few notable exceptions, including the city of Arrowport.
By 1258, due to ever increasing threats from the orc warbands of the Untamed Wastes and the encroaching dwarves from the north, Arrowport soon found itself in a position of vulnerability that it could not withstand. After the disastrous expedition to quell the orc invaders in 1258, the leadership of Arrowport signed the Treaty of Oakenshire with the Truris Kingdom, therefore cementing their permanent relationship and codifying their status and rights within the burgeoning realm.
Territories
The kingdom maintains a hold over the southeastern portion of Oduth, known as the Starlight Peninsula, with borders south of Grim Knurl and Aellogoth. The island of Garby Hold and its various pirate and merchant clans lays to the south, across the Kirsak Strait. The northern portion extends just past the Ice-Crowned Mountain.
Military
Ground Forces
The Truris Kingdom maintains a regionally powerful military, with the ability to field large numbers of infantry in a reasonably short amount of time. Unfortunately, the Kingdom's ability to field specific types of troops depends on the region. For example, the horsemen of the Hulcona Plains have a tendency to stay in their regions, rarely venturing into the mountainous areas of the northern kingdom. Meanwhile, the men of the north field some of the toughest mountaineering soldiers in Oduth.Naval Forces
The kingdom is much more limited from a naval perspective, with a medium-sized mercantile fleet available to it mainly to protect itself from piracy. Several shipyards dot the coastline and provide repair and construction facilities for existing and new vessels.Religion
While it can be difficult to generalize the religious practices of the citizens of the Truris Kingdom, one can generally do so if the scope is narrowed. For instance, people near the coasts have a tendency to pray to sea and weather gods, while those that live near the mountains have a more diverse pantheon, even taking those of neighboring races such as dwarves.
