Shadows in the Harbor Session 37
General Summary
Jugg-a-lo's!
The party loaded their gear and headed out to Fairshield. They had made it about half way when, seemingly out of the blue, a pair of wandering performers approached them. The leader introduced himself as Arin the Bold and took out a set of orange balls and began to juggle them. This drew the attention of Fel'Shu who joined in and began to throw several apples into the mix. Arin handled the additional work with ease. Meanwhile, Keck tried to keep his eyes fixed on the juggler as another entertainer, an elf woman named Lila Starweaver, performed on her lute as she walked around the party. Damakos kept his guard, as well as his patience, up. Arin began to juggle more and more, including nunchuks, daggers, and lit lanterns. Fel'Shu continued to humor him, but he was growing tired of the show. Keck turned around and noticed a small hand rooting around in his bag of holding. The rogue turned and snatched up the small child's hand, lifting him up off the ground in sheer terror. The young boy placed his feet squarely on the horse and vaulted off, ripping his hand free Keck's grasp and out of the bag of holding. He, Arin the Bold, and Lila Starweaver disappeared into the woods to the north. Keck gave the bag a quick once over and thankfully found that nothing had been taken. They continued on towards town. Oh, This Place It had been several days since they'd been to Fairshield but the barkeeper, Okalder Kaspin, at the Engorged Warhorse recognized them. He inquired if the dragonborn Eshshann the Pocket was with them, wary that the trouble maker would cause problems for him again, but he was nowhere to be found. Grateful for the reprieve, he asked how he could be of assistance. Keck leaned in and asked what the situation regarding the South Wind Trading Company in town. Okalder's eyes grew large as he looked around the room and proclaimed that things were great. Keck could sense that that Okalder wasn't being totally honest, and he looked around the room and saw the familiar yellow and blue symbols on the clothing of the other patrons. Taking a queue from Damakos, Keck requested Okalder come talk in private and the bartender led them to the cellar. The three of them talked at length about the nefarious trappings of the South Wind and what the party had set out to do. Okalder seemed to be on board with the plan and recommended that they talk to Marcellus Blackforest over with the Merchant's Guild. Armed with a new point of contact, the party headed towards the west end of the town. As they approached the Merchant's Guild they noticed that the South Wind's headquarters was directly adjacent. Several armed men patrolled the grounds and Fel'Shu, Malark, and Damakos split off to keep an eye on them. Keck and Tim the Not-so-Tiny headed into the Guild hall where they were greeted by a Halfling who introduced himself as Lysander Windsong. Lysander brushed his reddish-brown locks out of his hair and, after some pleasantries, introduced the party to the guildmaster, Marcellus Blackforest. The older gentleman greeted the party warmly and bid them to sit. The three of them began a conversation and Keck and Tim shared their goals and objectives with Marcellus. The guildmaster seemed concerned for the safety of his people, mentioning that the South Wind were a particularly nasty bunch and that Voren Thorne was not to be trifled with. Keck reassured him that they would be able to protect them with the backing of Castleport's navy. They asked if there were others in town that might be willing to join them and Marcellus mentioned that Ryder Stormwind from the West Sea Trade Company may be willing. Marcellus sent Lysander off to bring Ryder. Meanwhile, Fel'Shu being Fel'Shu decided to strike up a conversation with one of the South Wind guards. The conversation grew heated and a short but incredibly violent fight broke out. Malark and Damakos hung back, but Fel'Shu drove forward determined to show off the Warforged head he kept in a bag...Rewards Granted
