Marcellus's physical condition reflects his comfortable lifestyle, age and the pressures of leadership. He's become a bit soft around the midsection, but it doesn't hinder his mobility. His love of fine food and wine has gifted him a slight paunch. He has noticeably thinning hair, particularly around the temples. Deep wrinkles from years of smiling and concern have carved themselves into his face. He has a confident stride which conveys his role as guild leader.

Marcellus seeks primarily to protect the Merchant Guild's interests and ensuring its survival and prosperity against a backdrop of increasing pressure from the South Wind Trading Company. Further, he desires to preserve his family legacy by honoring the Blackforest name and heritage.
As guild leader he has been trying to no avail to counter the South Wind's dominance in the region. He has tried to protect merchants from the exploitative practices that the South Wind employs, but has been having difficulty in delivering their cargo safely and on time.
