Khazad'Raan
Home to the Dwarves of Clan Goldbrace, Khazad'Raan sits high in the mountains of the western region of The Highpeak Range. The city is perched on the edge of a sheer mountain cliff overlooking the landscape below, to reach the city you have to travel up a winding mountain switchback path although it is rumoured that the dwarves have dug themselves tunnels under the city which open out to other areas nearby which they have hidden skillfully in the landscape. The jewel of Khazad'Raan is the fortress built as if growing out of the mountainside itself on the north-eastern side of the city, it has several floors above ground and is the tallest structure in all of Khazad'Raan, but the truly breathtaking feature is how far down into the mountain the fortress goes; dwarves dig deep for their metals and Clan Goldbrace has renovated the excavated layers as they continue to dig down, so much so that the entire population of Khazad'Raan can take up residence inside the fortress in an emergency with room to spare. Known far and wide is Clan Goldbrace's incredible wealth and one visit to the fortress of Khazad'Raan is said to be the only proof one needs to believe it. Not many are invited to the halls of Khazad'Raan but the few who have had the honour tell tales of long marble floored hallways flanked by huge statues with gemstones for eyes and detailed with gold or even platinum filigree, masterpiece artworks hanging on the wall, and of a throne cut from a giant diamond.
