Hagclaw Bog

Located in the southern region of Central Midasfjall lies Hagclaw Bog; a gloomy swamp where the presence of evil corrupting magic tinges the very air with it's essence. Once thought to be a forest saturated with wildlife and typical forest flora, Hagclaw Bog is now a hostile region bent to the will of whatever evil lurks in its depths, trees grow twisted and gnarled with crooked branches that seem to reach forward as if to snatch unwary travelers by the throat and drag them underground, bristling thickets grow in abundance hoping to ensnare their prey within their thorny embraces, and predatory creatures skulk in the shadows watching for any sign of weakness in their prey before springing a savage ambush. Due to the hostility of the bog it is mostly avoided, the evil within left to fester. The area is managed by The Windpeak Rangers, a faction of monster hunters who defend the city of Windpeak, who keep the evil emanating from the bog from spilling forth and keep those who seek to explore the bog away.

Geography

The land of Hagclaw Bog is low-lying, uncultivated ground where water from the The Azure Sea collects. There are no man-made pathways through the bog, only game trails left by the species of large amphibians that make the swamp their home. The game trails are lined with trees which present their own obstacles as many tree branches are home to species of Stranglevine, Razorvine, and varieties of Mold as well as webs made by spiders. Peppered throughout the swamp are patches of shallow, stagnant water which is poisonous to drink and are the gathering places for swarms of biting insects and other nasty things.
