The History of Cinu.
The colonisation of Lordania, Yuklid V, Tyannani, Nouveaulyon, and Cinu took place in the late 2100s. Within the first few years of settlement, the various planets had contacted each other, and began to form the greater Lordanian community.
The Cinuan Colonial Authority is founded to oversee the colonisation of Cinu. Overseen by Achraf Hamadi, the Commanding Officer and wielder of executive authority.
The Cinuan Colonial Authority had previously served as the dominant authority of the Cinu colonisation effort. For over a decade, power had rested in the hands of the mission's Commanding Officer, Achraf Hamadi, who had total authority over the state. Hamadi used his executive authority to establish the basis of a democratic system, though he retained his power of absolute veto in a form of procedural democracy. In 2197, the CCA moved from the CS Cinu to Al-Mular. Hamadi oversaw the establishment of the Colonial Assembly and the Supreme Court of Cinu, with the intent of establishing a unitary presidential republic.
The Presidential Election of '00 was one of the most important elections of early Cinuan history. Achraf Hamadi turned 92 in 2300. Thanks to modern medicine, he had the capacity to lead, but this was not going to last. Hamadi had held an almost dictator-like authority since the days the first Cinuans boarded the CS Cinu, but times had changed and a whole new generation had taken their place. While they held tremendous respect for Hamadi's dedication to democratic causes, he still held control over the Assembly, and so would his successor. Two candidates were nominated by the assembly; Mizrak al-Faoud, a liberal democrat and reformer; and Rihan Sayed, a democratic socialist and parliamentarian. The vote had a turnout of 92 percent, which remains one of the largest in Cinuan history. With a narrow victory, Rihan Sayed was elected President of Cinu. In her election speech, her very first act was to issue an executive order to establish a new constitution disbanding the role of President and transforming Cinu into a parliamentary democracy. Hamadi, satisfied with the result, retired from politics and settled in Diade.
With cross-party support, the Constitution of Cinu is rewritten to abolish the role of President. Cinu would become a parliamentary republic. President Rihan Sayed steps down and returns to her role as leader of the Cinu Social Party.
The founding of the First Lordanian Republic. Initially a pact of military alliance and trade agreements, over the next few years the First Lordanian Republic would grow to control the entire Lordanian Cluster.
The Republic of Kassala declares its independence from the Cinuan Colonial Authority. It argues that as Cinu is part of a greater Lordanian Republic, and that the regions of Cinu have grown to be self-sufficient, it no longer needed a Colonial Government, as it was not a colony.
The Lordanian Dollar is established and accepted across the Cluster, serving as a unified currency model for the entire region.
"United, we shall strive to put to rest all inequalities, all injustices, and to make all equal before the law."With the rise of numerous nation states across Cinu, the Cinuan Colonial Authority was proving incapable of claiming itself as the legitimate government of a united Cinu. Led by the efforts of former-President Rihan Sayed, the many states of Cinu convene to form the United Nations of Cinu, and sign a formal Charter. This was swiftly recognised by the First Lordanian Republic, and the two continued a warm trading partnership.
We shall not allow our voices to go unheard. If the Republic will not hear our words, then they shall see our actions.Growing inequality in the Republic combined with unpopular foreign policy led to widespread rioting across the Cluster. While peaceful protest was allowed to take place, it seemed the Republic were not prepared to listen to any demands, which led to violent protests. Keen to suppress the movement, the Republic occupied the planet Tersten and established the Pinascimate Penal Authority.
With many people displaced into the new penal authority, large groups of wealthy Lordanians profit heavily from the economic uncertainty gripping the Republic.
The Dynamic Economy Act authorised nationalisation of various private entities in the Lordanian Cluster. The bill was passed with support from most parties. In an interplanetary con, the Senate of Lordania made itself considerably richer than the rest of the Second Republic, causing many states of the Republic to effectively go bankrupt overnight, owing tremendous debt to Lordanian companies.
The first of many economies to collapse following a large economic depression. The ripples of it's collapse were felt all across the galaxy.
"We can no longer afford to live. I ask you, was this war not expected? That we would refuse to allow our extinction?"Faced with a tanking economy, rising unrest and inequality, and with extremist factions on the rise locally and globally, the planet Cinu descends into chaos, with numerous nations and factions rising up to take control of the planet in a brutal civil war. The war was only ended by the formation of the People's Republic of Lordania and the subsequent occupation and dismantling of political parties on the planet.
The Election of '60 was a major turning point in the history of the First Lordanian Republic. The Unitarian Party secured a majority of votes across the entire Lordanian Cluster. The new Consul, Leonard Percy, soon instituted a dictatorial regime under the guise of the people.
With little fanfare or pomp, numerous acts were signed into law giving the Unitarian Party complete and total control over all parts of the government. It is largely recognised that 2265 was the transition year from the First Lordanian Republic into the People's Republic of Lordania.
The ending of the Cinu Unification Wars came in 2264. The remains of the United Nations of Cinu had largely been absorbed into the Republic. Field Marshal Çetin Üllasuli led the Republican Army on Cinu, defeating the remaining nations that had not swore loyalty to the Unitarian Party. The end of the Unification Wars were only the beginning of trouble for Cinu. The exiled leadership of the former nations of Cinu found themselves isolated, but not alone. The loyal soldiers of the anti-fascists became a paramilitary force, capable of guerrilla and partisan warfare. Though it would be fifteen years until they could truly oppose the People's Republic, they continued to be a signification thorn in the side of the fascist government, and a symbol of their military failure.
The Attempted Purge of 2266 lives on in Lordanian history as both a travesty and a comedy of errors. Leonard Percy ordered a purge of moderates and anti-unitarians, including Jacques Garcin. After the assassination of Garcin failed, he was able to notify many of the other targets and help them flee underground. Finishing what had been started by the Dynamic Economy Act, the Unitarians nationalised most of the cluster. Few corporations were spared, those that worked with the PRL were able to remain functional, but heavily influenced by Unitarian affairs.
The Retaliation of One Hundred Swords took place on Cinu in 2277. The Majlis Alhuriya stormed numerous prisons across the planet, freeing thousands of prisoners and soldiers. The Majlis secured major strongholds in Kassala and the Tarim Valley. They called themselves the legitimate governments of a united Cinu and called for the complete withdrawal of Lordanian forces.
Broadcast around the Lordanian Cluster, the Response of the Cinuan to Consul Leonard Percy came at the conclusion of the Majlis Alhuriya's demand to the People's Republic of Lordania. A young Cinuan named Saheem Ahmad delivered the passionate, and obscenity-laden speech in response to repeated violations of human rights by the Unitarian Party. In the speech, he repeatedly insults Leonard Percy and calls for his death. The speech became infamous overnight, being replayed across the Cluster and beyond. It was considered an arrestable offence to have a copy of the broadcast in Lordanian space.
