First Lordanian Republic

The First Lordanian Republic was the republican government of the Lordanian Cluster between 2210 and 2265, governed by the Lordanian Senate and presided over by a Consul. Despite much political turmoil, the First Lordanian Republic saw the Lordanians unify under a interplanetary Republic, and massive economic growth during its first 20 years of leadership. However, in its later years, it was beset by much corruption and inefficient policies, led by the largely Lordanian government. Numerous economic collapses across the various planets led to a precarious situation, resulting in the election of Leonard Percy and the Unitarian Party, representing fascist and nationalist views. What was seen as an attempt at strengthening the Consulate ended in the complete takeover of political institutions and the formation of a one-party state, the People's Republic of Lordania. Many surviving senators and politicians would go underground, forming The Brotherhood. Many would eventually resurface in the founding of the First Lordanian Republic's successor states, the Second Lordanian Republic and the Confederate Systems of Lordania.
