Al-Mular

Al-Mular is the oldest city on Cinu, as well as its capital city. It lies in the shadow of the Shamari Volcano, that shields the fertile region from the harshness of the desert. Al-Mular is one of the most known cities in the Lordanian cluster, known locally and abroad as 'Madinat Barkan', the Volcano City.   It has a population of 86 million, making it the largest city on the planet. It has been developed out of strengthened sandstone, making it a unique sight across the galaxy. The total Al-Mularan city region spans much of the mountain base, giving way to various suburban sprawls before finally thinning out into the plains and deserts.   Founded in 2187, Al-Mular served as the home to the Cinuan Colonial Authority, and the United Nations of Cinu. It was the capital of the Cinuan State, and is the modern capital of the Cinuan Union. It remains the most developed city on the planet. The capital changed hands several times during the Cinu Unification Wars, but suffered relatively little damage from the ensuing occupation, being swiftly placed under an oppressive planetary martial law, led by Çetin Üllasuli. During the reign of the People's Republic of Lordania, Al-Mular was strengthened with infrastructural improvements and military developments. After the collapse of the government, the city once again became an open city, neutral from Cinu politics and serving as the primary port of call for any Sol visitors.

Geography

Al-Mular is the capital city of Cinu, located in the Sadhak Basin. It lies near the dormant Shamari Volcano, which has become the symbol of the city. With a population of around thirty-five million, Al-Mular is the most populous urban center on Cinu. It suffered heavy damage during the Year of Martyrs and the Great Revolution, but has subsequently been rebuilt, becoming larger and more developed than its pre-war years. At the heart of the city is the Golden Hill, on which the Senate of the People of Cinu stands. The neobaroquist building has at its top the Great Dome, which was heavily damaged during the War. Rather than rebuild the dome, it was preserved in its destroyed state as a constant and eternal reminder of the fragility of democratic systems, and the duty of all peoples to protect it from harm.   Outside the Senate stands the Statue of the Vigilant Martyr, depicting a shrouded and undetermined figure representing the Cinuan People, holding aloft a sword and the Constitution, on which a dove rests. This symbolises the struggle on which their egalitarian society was founded on, and the measures by which they will defend it with. It represents a symbol of hope and unity to the people of Cinu.   Close to the Golden Hill is the Museum of Cinu, which was the historic seat of the Cinuan Colonial Authority from 2197 until 2224. It was used as the Ministry of Defence by the People's Republic of Cinu, and finally captured by the Majlis Alhuriya during the liberation of al-Mular. As one of the oldest buildings on Cinu, it holds a special place in Cinuan history, and now proudly displays that history within its walls.
