Cinu Unification Wars
The Cinu Unification Wars were a series of bloody conflicts involving the majority of nations on Cinu . The conflict took place between 2255 and 2264, and is divided into two stages, the Civil War (2255-2260) and the Union War (2260 - 2264). The Cinuan Economic Collapse in 2251 caused a massive wave of unrest and decline across the entire planet. With the United Nations of Cinu unable to keep the peace, many of the largest states on the planet resorted to military occupations of their neighbors. The largest of these states were; the Republic of Zawilah, which controlled the Tamarin Basin and the Three Seas of Kassala; the United Nations of Cinu, which controlled Al-Mular, as well as it’s spaceport, in a well defended location; the Federal Republic of Erfoud, which had control over various parts of northern Cinu, as well as the Bahari ya Kaskazini; and the Tarim Valley Commune, the de-facto industrial capital of the planet.
The Unitarian Party took advantage of this instability, becoming popular on Cinu for its eagerness to unite the people against the 'true enemies' within the First Lordanian Republic. The Unitarians had significant popular and military support from most of the major nations on the planet, including Çetin Üllasuli, a military commander for the Republic of Zawileh.
Upon election of the Unitarians in 2260, the final stage of the Unification Wars began. The war had yet to be won by any side, and the now-leading Unitarians had a strong interest in retaining control over its member worlds. The Lordanian Republic sent manpower and supplies to help unify Cinu, with major cities garrisoned and rebuilt by Lordanian infrastructure, and its armies were bolstered by various off-world forces. Using these forces, nations loyal to the Unitarians were able to swiftly crush their neighbors, as well as any non-aligned nations.
The founding of the People's Republic of Lordania saw the end of Cinuan independence, with the United Nations of Cinu being dissolved into the Cinuan State. Much of the former military and political leadership that survived the conflict fled underground, eventually founding the Majlis Alhuriya. The immediate effects of the war were clear, large parts of the Cinuan population had been displaced, forcing the newly created fascist government to lead rebuilding efforts. Roving bands of militias and mobs still roamed the countryside, with holdouts of the various governments still clinging on in the most extreme deserts or mountains.
