With no end to the economic recession, several Cinuan Nations declared independence from the UNC, and began occupying Government owned industry and infrastructure. This began a 9 year political upheaval leading to several small-scale skirmishes across the planet. Large swaths of the population migrated across the planet in search of better prospects. The United Nations of Cinu was incapable of handling the upheaval, and relied heavily on support from the failing Lordanian Republic.   As a participating member of the Republic, its people were afforded a right to vote in the 2490 election. Most of the planet unanimously voted for the Lordanian Unity party, who had promised an end to the depression.   The Lordanian Unity party immediately sanctioned and formalised a State of Emergency on the planet. Encouraged by radical elements, the United Nations was forced into using heavier and heavier handed tactics to contain the insurrection. Unexpecting such a show of force, much of the insurrection was quelled.   This led to the Cinuan Resistance Force's use of underground tactics instead of conventional military force. In 2493, the Lordanian Republic passed the Emergency Powers Act. The Cinu Unification War was put to a swift end when Cinu was formally absorbed as a state within the newly created People's Republic of Lordania.
